It's Thursday, here's a throwback to some clowns (marked as sensitive for the coulrophobics out there) 🖤

Dance with me until the moon hides its face,
And the sun attempts to quicken the pace.
From the sunlight, the vampire turns his face,
And dancers twirl to the light’s frenzied pace.

Writing a horror novella with a romance subplot made me realize... I haven't read any modern romance novels! Need to expand my horizon so I am super open to recommendations!

Oh American Story, you foxed me again. I thought this time FOR SURE that episodes 9 and 10 (hah hah, I have to laugh because crying is the only other option) would bring this thing in for a soft landing.

Instead it's the most rushed finale I have ever seen, like when a middling broadcast show would be abruptly canceled in the 80s or 90s

I'm a big fan of the short form for horror so this format was made for me. Four interconnected stories that ramped up the creep factor.

A literary agent tries to track down a client who has dropped off the grid while working on a difficult screen adaptation.

Two bag men accept a job to deliver a rare book, with a few strange stipulations on how the book is to be handled and transported.

A boy with a strange pop-up book and few friends invites classmates to his birthday party.

A man tries to understand what happened to a former colleague after she received a series of emails with strange audio attachments.

My is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, & spectacular far & wide.

💙📚 HOT DEMON BITCHES NEAR YOU from J.E. Erickson is an exuberant blast of gore & grue. The Horrors are heavy here, but balanced with deliciously devilish delights & a LOT of heart. (Lots of OTHER body parts, too.) You'll be disturbed, delighted, horrified- but also cackling. HELL, yeah! (Self-published)

The author mentions that it's less like its Sandman origin (which is one of the most horrific parts of the series aside from the diner, imo). But I think that's because it's based more on the spinoff comics (which seemed very YA to me). I still loved it & feel like it marries the two.

Plus it starts leaning more into some horror in the third episode 🤷

Same with Instagram. I’m a performer and rely on it for outreach and promotion but absolutely HATE the platform to no end. And this is a common sentiment among all performers. It is a garbage platform that comforts Nazis and pedophiles but bans the hashtag and puts your account in jail for using it.

Unfortunately, PixelFed has almost no one on it and reaching a local audience is impossible, so there’s no point in switching. We have to go where the people are :(
