indie gamedev is spending 3-5 years working on a game with probably at least a couple other people and then you release it and if youre fairly lucky you gross like 20-80 thousand US dollars which works out to $5000 a person a year before tax. it's a very cool and sustainable industry

Thanks to this crunch I now have 5 and a half months of banked days of overtime. Gonna probably get to 6 before the worst is over. Guess I'll just take half a year off work after Kitsune Tails comes out if it does okay

If you come into my mentions saying there are bigger problems than covid and treating it like a flu isn't the end of the world you will be aggressively told to educate yourself on the realities of covid (https://covidsafetyforschools.org) with a minimum of 8 slides from that course and if you then keep minimizing covid to me you will be blocked

The slides will show that an order of magnitude more children are hospitalized from covid than flu, that it kills way more than an order of magnitude people than flu does, that it's a vascular illness not a respiratory illness like the flu, which causes significant long term increases in potentially fatal cardiovascular events, that it causes likely irreversible neuron fusing which causes cognitive impairment, that it causes IQ drops cumulative with each infection, and that it greatly increases risk of developing alzheimer's and parkinson's disease

TL;DR if you're a covid minimizer and you like to follow me I highly suggest you keep it to your fucking self

why on earth doesn't firefox let you add custom search engines with a simple url? that's kind of a big oversight. you're not my dad, firefox, you don't get to decide what list of search engines is acceptable for me to use as a default

i used to be impressed with cute syntactical constructs that would let you express things far more efficiently in programming languages but tbh over the last decade or so ive gone from that to "if your syntax noticeably diverges from basic C-style stuff then you've fucked up, simple syntax is best because sugar is bad for you"

@glairedaggers limitations breed creativity. A fantasy console gives those limitations but also offers a reason for them. But that reason only works to accept the limitations if there's sufficient verisimilitude, otherwise suspension of disbelief fails and you're just left with an inferior computing and development environment. At that point, why not just use something modern?

remember when trump said if we just stop testing for covid it would go away as if by a miracle and everyone thought that was a scandalously stupid thing to say

on an entirely unrelated note since 3 weeks ago the CDC no longer requires hospitals to report covid hospitalizations and now biobot is no longer showing covid wastewater data for the US
