A trans communist I've talked to a lot over the internet for ages, she introduced me to her wife and a load of other trans communists from across the world and helped put me in contact with people to get hrt from and helped me pay for it after I got cryptoscammed out of the money I was using to buy it, also given me a lot of advice on self injecting and general good social advice. Also helped me get through a pretty traumatic situation I was going through several months ago that kind of fucked me up mentally.

They have very simple demands, they're not giving some pie in the sky stuff like "have Joe Biden tried for war crimes and abolish capitalism" or something; the protests all have demands along the lines that their university boycott Israeli companies and cut ties with weapons manufacturers aiding the genocide. To claim otherwise is completely infantalising to the protestors who are risking their university positions and physical health to protest despite the police crackdowns.

By late-March 2024, the United Nations recorded more than 200 Israeli attacks on schools in Gaza, with at least 53 schools totally destroyed

I reccon making a Discord or something like that for solid communication would also happen.

Yeah, in British politics transphobia is very much a bipartisan position shared with only rare exceptions by the right, the left, the far right and the far left. Shit sucks fr.

The BBC very notably has a very strong transphobic bias. For instance, on the day of Israel bombing the Iranian embassy I remember BBC radio 4 news spent more time talking about JK Rowling’s tweets about the new Scottish hate speech laws that banned discrimination against trans people and then interviewed a prominent Scottish TERF to give a puffpiece interview about her TERF org and how great JK Rowling is (notably they didn’t interview a single trans person) than they spent on the bombing of the embassy. Also a few days ago they gave a great deal of air time to the Cass Report which was basically made as a hitpiece trying to push for banning anyone under the age of 25 from transitioning (they then completely ignored all the criticism it received for it’s awful scientific method).

i think that it’s a lot more likely that a few people are just making burner accounts to be dicks on the internet than some weird QAnon-esque conspiracy theory that both the Russian and Chinese governments are not only aware of a tiny reddit clone but also are actively employing people (who all happen to be fluent in english) to create fake accounts and convincingly imitate westerners all in order to slightly increase political divisions in america for a few thousand people by having arguments about already incredibly contentious issues.

im not saying governments dont astroturf or anything, i meant it was a QAnon-esque conspiracy to assume that there were paid shills and bots around every corner and the vast majority of anti-american sentiment comes from a Russian cabal or something, especially on a comparitively tiny online space like lemmy. Like i’ve fairly frequently seen the accusation that lemmy is filled with paid actors / bots working for various countries from people just because they’ve suddenly been exposed to views that they’ve never really encountered before.

if your instance defeds threads then it blocks any information being sent to threads at all so they wont receive anything that you post, not even your upvotes on posts will federate with threads.

The only case where this gets kind of weird is if you’re on an instance that federates via an allow list of approved instances instead of using the normal method of federating with everyone by default then blocking selected bad instances (the only large instance that uses this method for federation though is hexbear as far as im aware so its not really that important).
