I feel like the most difficult part of subgroups and GPU programming in general, is getting all the terminology straight in your head. Sometimes it seems like it would be easier just writing rdna asm directly. :')
@pervognsen Right I was about half way through typing that we could probably lose the CUDA cores :') People working on CPU marketing must be livid that GPUs get away with that after the whole "real cores" kerfuffle with bulldozer.

Like I said when the layoffs where first announced, you’re going to see random shit go wrong because these cos now have a bunch of systems nobody in-house understands any more. This is what happens with mass layoffs https://www.theregister.com/2024/05/20/google_cloud_network_outage/
Thanks to this crunch I now have 5 and a half months of banked days of overtime. Gonna probably get to 6 before the worst is over. Guess I'll just take half a year off work after Kitsune Tails comes out if it does okay
We've all heard the personal finance advice popularised by Robert Kiyosaki: "Pay yourself first."
The idea is that before you pay your bills, before you buy anything else, you should set aside money for savings and investing. Supposedly, this prioritizes your financial future.
I've never liked this advice. It rings hollow. It feels selfish.
@Daojoan Ever since I heard the "If books could kill" episode on Rich Dad Poor Dad, I can't see Robert Kiyosaki's name without cringing lol
Love the post!
@Daojoan It matters though where people chase the current level of spending instead of reevaluating it. Every once in a while you can read a story of someone becoming a big hit, trying to grow, barely making new expenses but powering through because... potential gains, self set standards?
I take the advice as: Don't sacrifice your life to keep the business running. I've seen small business owners getting stuck like that. Maybe you need to raise prices, change processes, cut jobs, etc.

Iranian media report a helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi has been involved in an accident in East Azerbaijan Province and some of his companions in the helicopter "managed to make contact with the center." https://www.iranintl.com/en/202405197603
@w7voa had to look at the source after seeing how positively these the dead president and the interim president were covered, and yes, of course it's an equivalent of russia today, but from iran, totally state controlled https://www.conspiracywatch.info/en/brieffing_notes/press-tv/
As President Biden speaks to the Morehouse College commencement ceremony in Atlanta someone is holding aloft behind him a flag of the DRCongo while one graduating student has turned his back and draped himself in the Palestinian flag.
