(TL;DR): I love being terrified, and this has led me to a fascination with imagining being a witness to / a victim of various tragedies. Is that weird?...
I think morbid curiosity is not weird, people rubberneck at car accidents. What you are describing sounds like it is going beyond a passing interest though, and the further you go down that rabbit hole, the weirder it will be.
Since you're asking, it might be a good idea to talk to a professional. You might also consider getting into something like an extreme sport.
I've had a hunch for a long time that people who grew up in a busy household with lots of family around are better equipped to ignore noise / light and be able to fall asleep easily. You should go wake them up and ask them.
I like ballotpedia.org but am very open to other resources or suggestions for how to get good info. Honestly half the reason I'm posting this is to start a solid thread of resources....
It's not a single curve, but a repeating wave. Every "aha!" moment is a peak and every "fuck this" is a dip. Source: learning music production for years.
I can't stand Queen, even though I have respect for their skill. (my highschool had an "arts program" and they bombarded us with musicals, Queen, and some sort of Queen musical)
NIN does nothing for me, and I've tried several albums and owned one. It's just.. nothing soup.
95% of music in any genre is garbage, but you can find the 5% gems if you go looking for it.
I dont know if this has been asked before or if this may be a little goofy of a question but I didn't see anything relating to it and I'm kinda curious what the culture of Lemmy is like and what sort of common things people see....

Still playing Shining Force 2, almost at the end. I read somewhere that Peter is the real main character and kind of agree.
I also started playing Sonic Adventure 2 because it looked cool and was less than $2, and omg, it might be the worst game I've ever played. I looked it up and it apparently was rushed, had a small team, and was made during a turbulent time at Sega. But it's just bad. The controls are garbage, camera is even worse and sometimes does not let you move it to see where you're going. The dialogue is thrown together poorly so the characters are often talking over each other in cutscenes. It's a shame too because I can see the wasted potential. At least the chill Knuckles levels are still fun to play, and the music is memorable. I really hope the "Dark" path is better than the "Hero" path.
I am not an audio person, so do not have much idea about technical terms - but I hear the words "bass" and "treble" almost everywhere now, especially in the equalizer app that came with a new bluetooth earbuds that I bought (yes, I am still very much a wired-earbud guy, just dipping my toes in the wireless earbud ocean)....
My parents raised me to always say "yes sir" and "no ma'am", and I automatically say it to service workers and just about anyone with whom I'm not close that I interact with. I noticed recently that I had misgendered a cashier when saying something like "no thank you, ma'am" based on their appearing AFAB, but on a future visit...
I feel like I do this a lot with podcasts. I started watching the Gus and Eddy podcast and finished it about a month before the last episode was released for example....
The lazy answer for me is PS2, since that's how I was able to play all the PS1/re-released games I missed out on. Pretty much all the Final Fantasy games, Chronl Trigger, Chrono Cross, Star Ocean.. And then there was also FFX and Twisted Metal Black, some of the PS2 highlights for me.
I think SNES still has my heart though. I feel like most of the major titles were better (more perfected) than their N64 counterparts. The Legend of Zelda LttP absolutely consumed me growing up and is still my favourite game of all time. Many years later I find I'm still interested in games that look like they could have been released on SNES.
Everyone embraced smartphones and created a bigger market for games than there ever was before. Naturally when the mainstream latches onto something it becomes diluted and all about making a quick buck. Imo

If it's anything like the drawstring bags I have tried, it's flimsy and mostly for show - it barely even tightens the bag when you're ready to tie it up and throw it out.
Hey whatcha all been playing! I finally finished Alan wake 2 after a long hiatus. Maybe a tad too long but damn what a game. Cannot wait for Control 2 and whatever else Remedy has cooking
This week I've gotten into Shining Force 2. I got a glimpse of it 20 years ago on a friend's Dreamcast and finally get to dive in.
I have been absolutely itching to play Final Fantasy Tactics again, but it's difficult to find. SF2 is scratching that itch nicely. Bonus that this cost less than $2 on Steam, and I'm able to fast-forward repetitive battle animations and longer dialogue.
And that's why interest on borrowed money tends to cost more than any guaranteed investment. Because otherwise the ones loaning would just take the investment themselves.

I know there’s occasionally some backlash to reviews that go against a broader positive reception to some media, but do that many people still follow reviews to decide what to check out?...
I’ve watched some here and there, but having to try to catch them when they stream has put me too much in the mind of old tv and catching shows when they air. Watching the recording afterward is maybe good for some white noise, but it’s clearly not the intended experience I think.
I don't personally care to catch live streams and participate, but I do sometimes prefer a streamer's commentary on a game compared to pure gameplay.
There was a streamer's series I used to watch (Attacking Tucans playing Zelda OOT randomizer). Their personality and reactions to the game were fun to watch and added to the experience.
I’m about to start Witcher 3 for the first time on my next days off work. Picked it up on a really good sale a couple weeks ago, but have been too engrossed with Helldivers 2 lately to actually start playing it.
You are in for a massive adventure! I’m considering doing a New Game+ with a crossbow build, but need some time to unwind after nearly 200 hours on the first playthrough.
