And he's balancing on a motorcycle with that thing on too!

FlyingSquid OP ,

You don't need drugs when you have religion. With 'Singh' in his name, he's most likely a Sikh and Sikhs are required to wear turbans. This is basically his way of being the Sikhest Sikh that ever put on a turban. It's like a neck-hurting equivalent of the people who wear Jesus-themed T-shirts and get into a car covered in Jesus bumper stickers.

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Considering what you can see of his arms, he's got a swole everything.

Also all the Dr. McCoys who don't like people holding up the damn elevator having private conversations inside one.

Also for all the Dr. McCoys who insisted that 'elevator' was a perfectly good word and didn't need a new name.

Yeah sure, but which would you rather have on your coffee table: a 7000-pound marble sculpture or toast coasters that go into toast coaster toaster holsters?

Marianna clearly wins.

FlyingSquid OP Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

What's wrong with ceramic coasters? That's what we use.

FlyingSquid OP Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I hope you have high ceilings.

FlyingSquid OP Mod ,

It's not a toaster, it's a toaster coaster holster.

Putting out arrest warrants on both of them is so smart. It's a way to avoid people claiming they are taking sides or playing favorites or aiding terrorists or being in favor of genocide or whatever. Both leaders are culpable because both the IDF and Hamas have committed atrocities.

It was an ancient salvaged U.S. helicopter flying in terrible weather. I don't think we need to start inventing conspiracy theories.

The crown is currently held by a town in Bosnia that got 2,325 people named Ivan together in 2017, according to Guinness World Records.

Yeah, but like every other guy in Eastern Europe is named Ivan, so that's a lot easier.

Other than the Buddha statues, which admittedly was where the tourists were killed, what even is there to see?

It's okay, you can't explain any aspect of quantum physics without changing it.

Biden: what would Trump have done if the Capitol riots had been led by Black Americans? ( www.theguardian.com )

Joe Biden has launched one of his most scathing attacks yet on Donald Trump’s record of racism, suggesting that the former US president would have acted differently to the January 6 2021 insurrection if was led by Black people....

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

So you're saying Biden shouldn't talk about what black people's lives are worth under Trump to the NAACP?

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Okay, so who should we vote for?

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

It's funny, every time I talk to someone like you who is explaining why not to vote for Biden and I ask them who I should vote for, they don't give me a straight answer.

FlyingSquid Mod ,

I don't know, but I'm glad I decided to find out what it looks like, because it's super cool.

Even if that is the case, I doubt he was the only serious candidate. They wouldn't have been that short-sighted. This is not the end of the regime. This will barely make an impact in the lives of most Iranians.

Every time I read the phrase 'the American Dream' I think of the part of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas when, after spending the whole novel trying to find the American Dream, they're given directions, only to find the remains of a burnt-down nightclub, "a huge slab of cracked, scorched concrete in a vacant lot full of tall weeds."

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

That sounds like an argument against giving people terrible jobs, but I don't think that's what you were going for.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, well, blame Dudley Simpson for suggesting The Doctor was infinitely old when he wrote The Brain of Morbius back in 1976.

Or blame Douglas Adams for making The Doctor's interference necessary for all life on Earth to begin when he wrote City of Death in 1979.

Or blame Stephen Gallagher for making The Doctor's interference necessary for The Big Bang to happen when he wrote Terminus in 1983.

I can come up with plenty of other examples that show that The Doctor has been super special for a very, very long time.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I would suggest there might be more color variation in skin tones in a multiplanetary society due to different levels of solar radiation exposure protection evolving on different planets.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I would also add that not a single Whitaker episode reached the levels of stupidity of Capaldi's Kill the Moon episode. That one made me angry, it was so stupid.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

You said you had a problem with the "super special" stuff.

I'm not sure how you can get more super special than being tasked with creating life on Earth, creating the universe as a whole, and, furthermore, being tasked with finding the literal Key to Time by the White Guardian of Time himself.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I'm not sure how any of that makes The Doctor any more special than created the universe.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I'm happy for the dude regardless. He clearly had a terrific time.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Good point. And, not to glorify warfare, but the synchronization gear was an amazingly innovative piece of technology.

FlyingSquid OP Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

What do you mean by "now?" Like an eternal now? Like how it's never not now until it's stopped being now?

FlyingSquid OP Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

The legal repercussions would be a secondary thing to me. I have no problem breaking an unjust law if I think I can do so. I do not feel the slightest bit of guilt violating drug laws.

If I murdered someone? I wouldn't be able to live with the guilt.

FlyingSquid Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

People don't have fun with super heroes like this now. It's all dark and gritty. Imagine a campy, tongue-in-cheek Fantastic Four movie that they didn't have to worry about tying in to the rest of the MCU. How awesome would that be?

FlyingSquid Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

It seems like quite often, for myself included, "the best Star Trek show" is the one you first grew up with.

So it will always be TOS for me.

I don't dislike any Star Trek show, but TOS was my first love.

FlyingSquid Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

No if about it.

The right of civilians not to be arbitrarily deprived of life and the prohibitions against killing or maiming civilians are principles firmly enshrined in international humanitarian law, international human rights law and international jurisprudence. The prohibition of violence to civilians, including children, in particular murder, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture is a principle of customary international law, with universal applicability in all situations of armed conflict.

https://childrenandarmedconflict.un.org/six-grave-violations/killing-and-maiming/

"They made us do it" is not a way around those laws.

All you're saying is that, to you, it's fine for the IDF to kill every single child in Gaza as long as someone has to pay the price for it in court later.

FlyingSquid Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

If there is no limit to the number of children you kill to ensure your nation is protected, maybe it isn't worth protecting.

FlyingSquid Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

According to some people here, infinite kids per militant is okay to maintain Israeli security.

And I have no idea why they think a state that believes killing large numbers of children is acceptable is worth securing.

FlyingSquid Mod ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I see, so now you are saying that the children being killed are calling for the eradication of Israel.

Does this include the babies?

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Many people enjoy Starbucks.

Many more go because it is convenient due to the drive-through and also because it has probably driven the local coffee shops out of business, but would definitely take another, better option if it presented itself.

Which they are. A smaller (but still pretty big) chain called Scooter's opened up here and Starbucks has taken a huge hit.

So it's a bit more complicated than you make it out to be.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Considering these LLMs are being integrated with search engines in a way that might work toward replacing them, don't you think their training should include knowing who someone is that a bunch of hits come up for when you Google them?

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Some of the incorrect information that I corrected were common misconceptions, so I felt like it was worth doing it for others for a while.
