These people are just so short sighted. Refusal to "choose" is still a choice, and the consequence for that are just as real as everything they're so upset over.
The problem is the idea that blockbusters are 100% of what's available. Find a smaller/indie theater in your area, or just find smaller movies online. Theres plenty of creativity out there. We just have to go find it.
I think that's the intended way too, but it's not exactly a given as other languages have different reading patterns. Japan, for instance, reads right to left, and others read vertically.
This is completely incorrect. It is not common at all (honestly I doubt it exists anywhere) to require students to volunteer work for a damn convenience store, or anything of the like. Some might require volunteering with community programs and non-profits, which has nothing to do with making anyone "docile" for future employment. Keep your crap cynicism to yourself and leave proper volunteer programs alone.
Why? While the post could maybe be read as a condemnation of the daughter, it could equally be read as condemning medical professionals and/or politicians legislating women's bodies.
I was in a rush and I needed to pick up a quick snack that I could eat during class. I chose these Nature Valley bars which said they had ten bars inside. What I failed to notice is the tiny print at the bottom where it says 5 x 2, i.e., 5 packets with two bars....
For the rest of the box, break the bars in half (while still in the wrapper) and eat the two top halves for the equivalent of one bar. The you can wrap up the remaining halves more securely.
I don't see why her parents would need to be present in class? Commute in, sure, but otherwise it'd be pretty much the same as any high-school. They'd just drop her off and pick her up when she's done for the day.
It really isn't. What you've described is every business plan ever, not psuedo-rent seeking or lessening the product for profit. You not liking their new choices is a personal problem, not an issue with the company.

and the first thing they tell us is “don’t worry, the data’s fine”, rather than anything about the human.
I do agree it would have been significantly more considerate to mention that the person is ok first, but I feel like you're confusing data storage (ie something they're collecting) with data processing (ie how the device operates). The data in question is the latter. In other words, they are explaining that the problems are being accounted for so that the device can still function in the human it's attached to.

Reactions like this are less than useful. These studies aren't discovering climate change is bad, they're investigating its effects and reach, and are the only hope we have to possibly avert, or just lessen, the bleak future ahead of us. Dismissing then with sarcastic comments does a disservice to the people doing this important work.
Today, one day after Microsoft announced that it would shut down four of its games studios, Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, held a town hall to discuss the division’s future goals. “We need smaller games that give us prestige and awards,” Booty told employees, according to internal remarks shared with The Verge....
Here, I'll translate - "We need an undervalued and underpaid studio that we own to pop out a viral sensation we can exploit the shit out of, who we will then treat exactly the same. Repeat ad nauseam"
I'm not gonna pretend he deserves anyone's pity or that you should change your opinion here, but acting like 18 is some magic age where someone is suddenly completely responsible and free of childish impulses/problems is ridiculous. Society may need to set an age for accountability in a legal sense, but socially, humans just don't work that way.
"Bring back"? They already exist. There are an endless number of small devs out there. Most of them don't have good games, let alone "titles of substance", so you have to do some work yourself to find the good stuff rather than expecting a constant stream of approved content to just fall in your lap.
When I was younger, palmpilots and blackberrys were the coolest things to me. Something that was basically a computer you could carry in your pocket? I wanted one so bad! And now basically everyone has something even better. Funny how things change.
and the Dev picks sales on Steam, not the publisher.
Do you happen to have a source for this? It was my understanding that the publisher handled all distribution. Hence the name. And if I'm wrong, I'd like to fix my misunderstanding.
