For the last few years, I just reply to everything with some raunchy furry porn, whatever I have on-hand on my phone, followed by 'stop'. Most are just automated, but now and again an actual person will reply, and it brings me joy. You didn't ask for gay furry bondage porn, I didn't ask to be bothered. An eye for an eye and all that...

wreckedcarzz ,
@wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, all my replies are "art", not just two people banging. I mean, they are still banging, but it's drawn. Lewdly, and in detail. But artistically.

I mean I would but I'd rather not get banned from this community :p

shrug complain to your government about cracking down on number spoofing (something they absolutely have the ability to end at basically a moments notice, but haven't, because there's little incentive). Until then, furry dicks.

How much does it matter what type of harddisk i buy for my server?

Hello, I'm relatively new to self-hosting and recently started using Unraid, which I find fantastic! I'm now considering upgrading my storage capacity by purchasing either an 8TB or 10TB hard drive. I'm exploring both new and used options to find the best deal. However, I've noticed that prices vary based on the specific...

I remember this - I had just bought my second drive for my nas (raid1, original drive cmr), and it was performing like shit. The next day, news broke about this bullshit and a couple days later, the suit was started. I was fucking pissed, the drives were still having trouble, with terabytes of irreplaceable data at risk while the two drives struggled to mirror. I got in contact with wd and after some back and forth bullshit, I straight-up threatened to join the class and blacklist wd for all my personal, family/friends, and client's builds, if they didn't rma the drive immediately and send me a cmr replacement. I've been 100% wd for over 20 years, and I have decent reach as to what I recommend and buy for people.

They sent me a cmr drive via express shipping. I continue to buy wd drives (two more disks in that machine, an external backup, an internal desktop pcie raid0 nvme+card, an internal backup drive for my desktop, a backup ssd for one of my laptops...), but with much more scrutiny. I did not join the class, but it's still a black mark in my book. I've been thinking about giving Toshiba a whirl, their drive reviews look good. Maybe next upgrade...

I got what I wanted (a proper cmr drive of the same capacity and speed) and I wasn't terribly interested in like $8 that would show up a year later. I just wanted to have my data safe on the correct hardware, and for cs to recognize and remedy the issue.

Now if the array had failed and I'd lost data (which from what I've read, I was very lucky to not have that happen), absolutely. But I was just angry from being bait-and-switched, and I'm 'old school' where loyalty still means something. That's the only time I've had issues with wd; I've had drives fail, and there has been no argument, no question, and it's pretty rare/special circumstances (1kW psu went kaboom, for example). I value cs that just helps the customer, not grilling them for every detail to weasel out of a claim. So yeah they burned some goodwill, but I still have dropped ~2k on drives since then.

Uh.... H-hello

(I do want to try on a skirt and few other things, but I'm large and x_x. Food, why must you be so tasty?)

wreckedcarzz ,
@wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world avatar

It's on my list to do 'eventually'; I'm stuck at home with family (disabled) so I've been planning on trying out things when I visit my master, as he is on board with the idea and very supportive. But yeah I'm ~235lbs/106kg guy, and I don't like how I look most days in the mirror in a boring t-shirt and shorts, let alone trying to be desirable, so I'm kinda setting myself up mentally for disappointment. We shall see.

I have a friend who looks amazing in femmy clothing, and I'm absolutely positive that he feels the same as me, but he's very attractive and I'm, uh, not. (self-image is something else master is trying to work on with me... but for real the friend is cute as hell, I'm jealous ><)

Every time I go looking, there's a barren desert of male/gay content. In some lateral communities, furry porn is beating the content ratio like 10:1.

Y'all need to hold your phones or something while you browse the 5 billion straight communities, give me something that's not weeks+ old. Uncut guys to the front of the queue, thanks. 📸

Afaik the default for windows 10 is weekly via disk defragmenter, and that assumes it recognizes the drive as an ssd. I've had drives cloned to ssds that retain the hdd flag and had to setup a 3rd party tool that actually saw it properly and would trim as expected.

11 might have reigned that in... but probably not.

... and this right here ladies and gentlemen, are the kinds of people who you share the road with. Someone that was competent enough at a time to pass a multiple-answer test, but somehow still knows nothing, and will argue about their answer and flawed reasoning.

Just something to think about on the way to work. I was a first-responder to something like 7 collisions, from motorcycle riders getting cut off, to pregnant teenagers running red lights and almost losing the baby, to people getting rear-ended at highway speeds and trapped in their cars. Physics doesn't give two shits about technicalities and what-ifs. Stay safe, everyone.

I mean, it's the navy 🌈, the guy knows what he likes, he's not half bad looking, and while I've only had my ass devoured once, by a skilled sub, I'd partake in it again.

Not enough to join up but if he's at port...

Americans are choking on surging fast-food prices. "I can't justify the expense," one customer says ( www.cbsnews.com )

Kevin Roberts remembers when he could get a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a drink from Five Guys for $10. But that was years ago. When the Virginia high school teacher recently visited the fast-food chain, the food alone without a beverage cost double that amount....

I bought a used machine a couple weeks ago and am setting it up (1st bare metal build), prox with debian vm running docker. I found it annoying that pm doesn't support it natively but the ability to do snapshots through pm is nice, and let's me fuck around more than I would otherwise, slowly build up a machine.

But almost all of the stuff I have running on other machines is just docker containers, so it would be nice if pm just added a checkbox during install or something. (I want to poke at and learn pm, plus mess around with other vms, that's why I didn't do straight Debian)

The best NC setup, is uninstalling NC. Seriously, I spent a month getting that monstrosity to work and not bitch about configurations OUT OF THE BOX that it does NOT HAVE A UI FOR just to find out that half of the 'apps' are half-baked buggy messes and the other are out of date, half-baked buggy messes. A to-do system without repeating item availability was the last one I learned about before salting the earth of that hopeless project.

...

Actually got me pissed off, thinking about it again. Jesus.

Right now I'm using a synology nas and its 1st party programs, but trying to break away to a more foss-friendly environment. Drive, Contacts, Calendar/Tasks, just work and don't require any fiddling so until a worthy opponent shows up, I'm kinda stuck.

wreckedcarzz ,
@wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world avatar

I've looked briefly into seafile; I'm fine, happy really, with the synology for file hosting, it's just the caldav, the photo management (I have immich but there's no easy way to move albums from syno to imm), stuff like that. And the fact that it all works together (reverse proxy, apps, web UI....) makes it illogical to move away for anything else than 'principle' or 'insufficient hardware'.

I have truenas running on a proxmox system but it appears it wants more than one drive? But I don't have matching drives for raid at the moment. That was/is something I'm looking into longer term, once I decouple the data from the services.

"they did it to save power!!! 111 one eleven"

there was perfectly fine memory that was upgradable before. They (system integrators/oems) saw it as a way to kill the upgrade market, boosting profits.

wreckedcarzz ,
@wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world avatar

No, not at the cost of locking in customer choice and flexibility. I have soldered-on ram in my ThinkPad, but not in my Predator gaming laptop. There is a -157% chance that Lenovo was trying to extract a few percent of extra speed so that I can open Firefox 0.13 seconds faster. Perhaps they'd try to cry "but battery life!", in which case I'd respond with "well it's not fucking working" as that machine barely gets 2.5h on a brand-new battery, browsing the web + terminal windows doing server admin stuff. (ThinkPad X13 Gen 2, Intel, with WWAN if you're curious. Fucking 1.5k and it's just passable for basic usage on the go.)

I'm not really upset with this 'new' standard, but the fact that oems are absolutely going to use it as bullshit marketing "look, we fixed the problem! get our un-fucked ram for only $129 per stick!". That's what the fuck I'm pissed off about.

Big biz: "we like money"

...

Big biz: "actually we need it, so bad, we are going into withdrawals, Steve only bought 3 yachts this week and he's about to go ape shit, we need it, WE NEED ITTTTTTTTTTTTT"

Also because of this, they are only pumping cash into big titles that are good bets for return, so nobody wants to spend money on a gamble. We need to let the big studios burn and collapse, they are way beyond their expiration date and only a few haven't gone bad. Let the shareholders burn too, they are the driving force behind most of this shit.

E: also you can only 'innovate' the wheel so much. New games become an obvious cash cow. I'd have to go back a decade+ for Battlefield, Call of Duty, Need for Speed, etc to see an actual change in the game, not just new assets and skins in a new place that looks like the old place but 'we swear it's different'
