But has anyone reached out to Ja Rule about what he has to say on the matter?

Zelensky: 'Our partners fear that Russia will lose this war' ( kyivindependent.com )

President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that Ukraine's partners "are afraid of Russia losing the war" and would like Kyiv "to win in such a way that Russia does not lose," Zelensky said in a meeting with journalists attended by the Kyiv Independent....

TheFonz ,

Uh huh. Sure. He sure swapped those "plunderers" for his buddies so they could all buy billion dollar yachts.

TheFonz , (edited )

Ok pal, and I have a girlfriend in Canada

TheFonz ,

Yeah, it's an expensive private school. You wouldn't know about it

TheFonz ,

Am I missing something or is this the most vaguely written description? I don't get it. Something biometric is all I got out of it

TheFonz ,

Why...do you think?

TheFonz ,

So which is it? He hasn't done anything or he waited too long in his term? How does any of this even compare to the other guy??? Sometimes I wonder if you guys are smoking shrooms because you make no sense

TheFonz ,

Even if it was "barely anything" which is not true, how is the alternative better? Address the points without the unnecessary banter.

TheFonz ,

You know what? You deserve the other guy. Good luck

TheFonz ,

There's just no winning with you guys. There will never be a perfect candidate. How can you not understand that? The fact that I have to argue the difference between a "token of support" versus complete annihilation is so mind boggling stupid. But here we are. Last thing I'll say: Biden is far from perfect but change takes time: It's incremental. There will be no revolution until you get the whole party on board. Good luck with your nihilism.

TheFonz ,

Israel has been a strategic ally in the middle east for decades. We've been trying to broker peace negotiations with Hamas since forever. The arms deals have slowed, with Rafah being a major point of contention. It's really fun to scream about genocide on Lemmy --the real world is much more complicated.

TheFonz ,

I think you're unable to hear anyone but yourself

TheFonz ,

Nop, not at all what I said.

TheFonz ,

This here is the biggest woosh that supports the whole thesis of the hypothetical. It was never meant to be a logical hypothetical. It's intended to elucincidate a prevailing feeling among women about what they perceive as safer. The fact that this still has to be explained after so many days is....I don't know.

TheFonz , (edited )

Yes, because those prejudices aren't grounded. The numbers reveal a whole other story when it comes to men/women interaction. Women have to use the biggest kid gloves to even broach this topic to men bc my god....the inherent fragility

Edit: listen guys. Trying to substitute another minority for the man in the hypothetical is not the dunk you think. I feel like Lemmy is the ultimate male echo chamber sometimes.

  • Over 1 in 3 women (35.6%) in the US have experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

  • Nearly 1 in 3 college women (29%) say they’ve been in an abusive dating relationship .

  • 52% of college women report knowing a friend who’s experienced violent and abusive dating behaviors including physical, sexual, digital, verbal, or other controlling abuse.

Everyone knows at least one woman (unless you're on Lemmy of course) who was abused, raped, or the subject of physical violence by a male partner at one point in their lives. Try to understand why the hypothetical exists, not if meets your logical criteria

TheFonz ,

This what I don't understand. How can a chat app be this slow? Some serious brain rot in this apps development

TheFonz ,

I didn't read the story but that's a cool mag. I'm digging the vibe and articles.

TheFonz , (edited )

There was this short sci fi story I think about a lot. I forgot what it's called but it's essentially about some kind of particle (it's physics related) that floats around the universe and has the ability to engulf everything in it's path or something? The story is about the last few hours on earth when one such particle happens to stumble into our solar system. Ill have to dig it up.

Edit: Found it! It's called "the blue afternoon that lasts forever"

TheFonz ,

Yes, I just reread it. You're correct. Can detect them now?

TheFonz ,

The story I am calling out referenced rogue black holes. But this is very interesting!

The link in the story goes to a completely different article not connected to Hillary at all. Where is the leak so we can hear it?

    TheFonz ,

That is the most muffled recording ever. What is the source on this?

    TheFonz ,

I mean, I don't want to say nothing ever happens, but what are the odds. This statement seems so simplistic and tailored for sound bytes. I could be wrong --and I'll eat my hat if I'm proved wrong -- but do you reckon politicians talk like this (even in private)?? It's like the most perfect sound bytes. Although, after Trump, nothing shocks me any more. Maybe our species is meant to be doomed. I don't know.

It is typical for trailers to be released while production is still in progress. Fury road had a TON of CGI, but it's impossible to tell because by release the work was completed. People don't realize how much CGI goes into movies these days and assume it's all practical FX.

    TheFonz ,

See my above comment, but fury road had a TON of CGI (maybe half or more of the action shots). People don't realize it because by the time the movie drops production is complete and good cgi is just invisible CGI. The production on Furiosa Is still in progress when the trailer was released.

    TheFonz ,

You just have to look at the credits to see the army of people who worked on VFX for fury Road. I dont have time to dig up exact sources, but this guy touches on it at one point in this series:

No CGI is just invisible CGI

    TheFonz ,

There is a ton of cgi in fury road. Many of the cars that crash, environments, backdrops. Yes, there are also practical effects as well. Many productions do a mix of both. This guy does a good job of explaining the bizarre aversion to CGI that is touted in press releases for every movie that gets released today:

No CGI is just invisible CGI

    TheFonz ,

It's a mix of practical and VFX. The VFX production team on Fury road was huge. The reality is good CGI is impossible to discern from practical. There's more to VFX than green screens.

No CGI is just invisible CGI

    TheFonz ,

I understand why people are focusing on green screen as stand in for CGI (I'm sure we still have collective ptsd from the Star Wars prequels) but there is a lot more to CGI in production that goes beyond "enhancing" the scenes. Entire elements (ie vehicles) are CGI in Fury Road.

    TheFonz ,

You're kinda missing the point and I don't know if I'm doing a poor job of explaining or what. I never said there were no practical effects. I never said they weren't the majority of the effects. I never said they filmed on a green screen most of the scenes. All that being told, there is a mountain of VFX happening in almost every shot. And to ignore it is silly at this point.

    TheFonz ,

No, people are seeing a trailer that was released long before production is wrapped and they're freaking out. Which is normal, but once the movie is out I promise The same people won't tell the difference between what is practical or not.

    TheFonz ,

I need to read more Hegel. What is a good starting point?

    TheFonz ,

Ok my bad. I assumed you were read on the subject. Marxist experts are a dime a dozen on Lemmy.

    TheFonz ,

It is not. Israel is a multi-party coalition based system.

    TheFonz ,

Wait so the body hasn't been released? How do we know he was tortured? I'm not saying he wasn't, but what are the sources on this?

    TheFonz ,

I'm not saying that it's not true. It's very likely. But if evidence comes out that none of this is true it ends up giving points to the IDF and we don't want to give more ammunition to Israel. We should be cautious about how we share information. That's all.

    TheFonz ,

Wow, thanks for sharing an opinion piece from realclearinvestigations wow. How enlightening to hear this take, I've never heard it before! Just spouting fact (sources are optional, you see).

    TheFonz ,

The system is flawed, for sure, but it works. A lot of policy has shaped or changed the course of American institutions in the past five decades and to pretend otherwise is simply ignorance or naivete. No, the youth are not engaged because they are apathetic and they expect to see quick results. The reality is that politics is not exciting but a slow and laborious process. It takes time and effort to move things. Protesting is nice and dandy, but how effective have they been lately? Where are all the occupy wall street folks now? Without a clear path to concrete policy it's just misguided energy.

    TheFonz ,

    Agreed

    TheFonz ,

I understand the frustration. Yes, sometimes protesting helps. But to expect major policy change with only a slim majority in house or senate betrays a lack of understanding of how politics works.

    TheFonz ,

Shouldn't it be sans serif though? Low effort.

Uncommitted voters are not apathetic. The Democratic party is ( www.theguardian.com )

What happens in November is up to Biden – it will not be the fault of the protest voter if Trump is elected. The questions remain: does the Democratic party fear Trump as much as we do? And does it value its voters enough to shift away from an approach to the onslaught in Gaza that a majority of Democratic voters are against?

    TheFonz ,

Haha are you ... serious? You know what Palestinians do to gay people, right? Right?

    TheFonz ,

@juicy : that's a slippery slope moving the goal posts ad hom begging the question false equivalency fallacy.

I love when people start throwing in debate bro terms at random without expanding. It tells everything you need to know that you're talking to a 12 year old.

    TheFonz ,

    Yes.
