Yeah, there are quite a few shots that stand out for looking a bit iffy.

Edgar Wright In Talks For "Barbarella" - Dark Horizons ( www.darkhorizons.com )

Beloved British filmmaker Edgar Wright (“Hot Fuzz,” “Baby Driver”) is in talks to direct the new “Barbarella” at Sony Pictures. In addition, Jane Goldman and her daughter Honey Ross are also in talks to write the script for the project which is still in the early development stage. Jane Fonda famously played the...

The fan film made the news recently because the day of the new live action films announcement, Warner Bros had it taken down from YouTube in a copyright claim. But it was restored about 24 how later.

I'm sure when I was a lad there were only two types of trailer, or at least the ones I remember. First there was a teaser trailer that would only last for about a minute and was quite coy in what to reveal. Although in fairness, that's probably because there wasn't enough footage ready to make a trailer, especially if it contained special effects elements.

The second trailer would later arrive, two minutes at most, containing special effects shots, and it would give you an idea of the film without revealing too much.

What have we got now? The entire film in three minutes to make sure everyone comes to see the film. I don't, I feel like I've seen it and have no plans on watching it now. cough The Fall Guy cough

Wow, that was cool.

Instead, we get this over and over again.

You've reminded me of The Force Awakens teaser trailer. Only a few shots of the main characters with no idea of the story at all.

This also carries on to the next 2½ minute trailer with no clues to the story really. I thought they were well done.

I did wonder about the trailer, was it the whole plot or just the start of the film. It's a bit of a gamble.

The problem with those videos is that they're designed for the YouTube advert system. Show the big moments to get them interested and then they sit and watch the ad/trailer rather than skip it.

It looks odd when you're viewing it separately though.

In the beginning, it was a mix of LiftOff! and Jerboa. The dev of LiftOff! had twins and understandably, he hasn't returned and the app has fallen to the wayside.

So I tried Thunder (available on Android and iOS) and it's been really good, lots of regular updates and features as well.

B-Movie King Roger Corman Dead At 98 - Dark Horizons ( www.darkhorizons.com )

Did you know, it was Roger Corman who told a young writer that if he could write a Mad Max rip off, he would let him direct it. The writer, Peter Radar, wanted to be a director and came back with a script he wrote called Waterworld. Corman liked the script but said, “Are you out of your mind? This would cost us three million...

Honestly, I was slightly let down by the experience fidelity-wise. Because of the CGI used, many elements were blurry here and there and because of the composite shots combining real elements with CGI, there were some moments where for example Jar Jar Binks would be blurry but the background would look normal. Also there were these weird pixelated colored dots that'd appear onscreen every five minutes or so.

But hey the audio was fine and the movie is WAY better than I remember.

I haven't seen this theatrical re-release but I saw it when it opened back in '99. There was no way it could live up to the hype of a brand new Star Wars film after about 16 years.

I bought the DVD and watched it a couple more times and then forgot about it. I bought the Blu-rays in late 2020, and watched the prequel trilogy again for the first time in over a decade.

I think Phantom Menace held up the best, possibly because the healthy amount of practical work. The CGI of the sequels hasn't held up so well.

My review of the Episode one from 2020.

Sylvester Stallone's Rocky origin story is punching its way onto the silver screen with Peter Farrelly directing ( www.joblo.com )

A struggling actor with a partially paralyzed face and a speech impediment writes a script that a big movie studio wants to buy, but he refuses to sell it unless he gets to play the lead. Turning down an offer of life-changing money, he instead works for pennies to get the movie made with himself in the starring role. The...

I was just saying to someone that I think Riddick is one of those characters who are better the less you know about them, like the original film.

Of course all the sequels try to answer those questions.

On the other hand, the Xbox game, Escape From Butcher Bay, was one the better film tie-ins I've played.

Yeah, great film with an awesome soundtrack. I've owned it on VHS and DVD, but I never got around to the Blu-ray. To fix that, it'll probably be the next 4k i pick up.

Thanks for posting this. The article I posted at !homevideo never mentioned there were different tiers of set, only the most expensive one of $130! Quite happy to see there's a $36 film only set.

I don't think they have their open official app but they offer their API free to developers I think.

I'm on Android and I've been through several TMDB apps but I don't really like any of them. I do know that Letterboxd use their API as well but that's a more social based thing.

I feel the trailer gave away most of the film! I will see it at some point, not in a rush.

Jeff Bridges Returns For "TRON: Ares" - Dark Horizons ( www.darkhorizons.com )

74-year-old Jeff Bridges has confirmed he’s going back to the grid with an appearance in the upcoming “TRON: Ares” currently shooting in Canada. Appearing on the Film Comment podcast (via The Playlist), Bridges says: “I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the ‘Tron’ story. Jared...

My problem with Prometheus and Covenant is that it explains the mystery of the Alien and that's not what I want.

Part of my fascination with the creature is that we know nothing about it. I didn't appreciate the explanation of the space jockey either. Is it a helmet, is it a skull, it's so weird.

Back in 2000, I think you were practically brainwashed into linking Metallica with Mission: Impossible II.

It's a decent song but I seem to remember that summer its all I heard. 😄

I was always annoyed a little bit because I was a bigger Limp Bizkit fan and at least their song used the M:I theme music!

If you like NewPipe but want your videos to skip the annoying bits, there's a fork called Tubular that incorporates SponsorBlock.

It's a little disconcerting when I post stuff and people (I assume) down vote it because they can't be bothered to read past the headline.

I posted a video to an almost dead Tron community with Joseph Kosinski talking about Tron Legacy being released in 4K.

But, again, I assume, because the video thumbnail and description was all about Top Gun Maverick...⬇️👇⬇️👇⬇️

I remember my friend and I discovering Guyver in our local blockbusters. Here in the UK, it was called Mutronics.

The first film is quite silly but lots of fun. The second takes a more serious tone and I'll always remember it has the voice of Metal Gear Solid's Snake, David Hayter, in the lead role.

Anyone migrate from PlayerPro to a FOSS alternative? ( play.google.com )

Looking for a music player that will do a good job of loading album art. It all looks great in PlayerPro, but I tried Auxio and Aplayer but they didn’t do a great job of pulling in the album art. Tracks were also incorrectly lumped together with mixed albums/artists....

Having used PowerAmp since Android 1.5, I switched to Musicolet last year and it does the job just as well. It’s not open source but it proudly claims that it has no network permissions, so it cannot send any data anywhere.

I've never seen Young Einstein but I'll never forget the poster, especially as it starred someone called Yahoo Serious.

I was reminded of the film several years ago when one of my favourite sites ran this article about the actor.
