Melatonin OP ,

Um, because I didn't see them?

Melatonin OP ,

Except I haven't thought of either of those bands until the shower this morning.

Melatonin ,

I liked space babies okay, but the devil's chord was bad enough that my wife walked out in the middle of it and said I could watch it alone. I finished it up but it wasn't good.

I haven't seen any more yet, and I came on here hoping to see that they got better. I will watch anyway.

Not Fantastic.

Can Milky Way and Andromeda collision reconcile with an Expanding Universe with galaxies spreading away from each other like "raisins in a loaf"?

I understand that our local galaxy group is considered "gravitationally bound" and therefore exempt from the expansion from each other ((, but we don't seem to have other galaxies collected into their own "local groups" of gravitationally bound clusters, so are we saying we're somehow unique? Is there a trick of perception...

Melatonin OP ,

You are so correct, I'm sorry for not checking myself. I'm not surprised I had errors, just that it was so quick and large.

So I guess the expanding universe is galaxy CLUSTERS moving away from each other? I don't feel like it's explained that way.

Melatonin OP ,

Inadvertent, I assure you. I will amend it to two parenthesis, hoping this doesn't mean I beat my children or something.

I think dark matter is spot on. We're not finding it because it isn't a thing.

However... Relevant explanation of why people think there's dark matter.

Melatonin ,

Well I'm not the one to argue with you but dark matter is only a thing because our current assumptions are a thing.

If we had to change our thinking because of new knowledge of some fundamental assumption (such as the reason for red shift), it could very well do away with dark matter. I'm sure such a change of thinking will seem as ridiculous to scientists today as heliocentrism seemed to astronomers of Galileo's day.

I'm not saying this is the answer, but it's an alternative view. Unproven, but then again we can't find any dark matter either.

👍

But don't try this in many parts of the Middle East.

👌

And don't do this in Brazil.

In mid-December and early January Quaker oats issued two massive recalls for salmonella risk. Many of their biggest products were involved. Other recalls were issued in February as well.

As of today many and perhaps even most of those products are still not on the shelves. It's unusual to see this kind of delay, and I wonder if anyone knows......

I don't know how many generations it would take, but in a short time race would cease to be an issue at all when we get to egalitarianism of marriage/children.

We'll all be a nice shade of bronze. Lovely.

Melatonin ,

What about the people who live on the INSIDE of the Earth huh? CHECKMATE solid earthers!

Do you use the device you torrent on for personal things as well?

I'm just curious as I've permanently dedicated my laptop to torrenting. I've been too nervous to install anything but the VPN and Firefox on it. Now, I'm curious to mess around with Linux some more, which is what I use on it, but I can't fully test out what all I can do with it without signing into accounts....

Melatonin ,

Maybe we could convince the military that they are rail guns. Yeah, it's rail gun research, and it will finally result in the defeat of those...other guys.

Of course, it will never work because they only trust a few companies like Lockheed to do their dirty stuff.

Melatonin ,

It could be. Could be.

Probably not.

But could be.

Melatonin ,

That's the Associated Press. Surely they did it on purpose.

Melatonin ,

Lemmy getting leftover Reddit clickbait. Why does anyone care about karma here? I don't get it.

I hate this.

Melatonin ,

Is that a good deal? I mean, it says "multi-million" and then it sells for less than 1/2 million, so I'm guessing good deal.

IDK, part it out on eBay?

What are some free interests/things/hobbies you can do in the city?

I live alone and I'm just wasting away my time here. It's actually making me very depressed to be honest. I do live in the city which makes think there ought to be at least something to do out here. Though I can't really afford to spent money on it every day....

Melatonin ,

Groups and clubs. They exist, you need to find them. The public library is a good place to start looking.

Melatonin ,

I suggest you read "The Game: Penetrating The Secret Society of Pickup Artists” by Neil Strauss. Not to become a 'pickup artist', which itself is a joke and a very shallow life even if one were "good at it". No.

However, there is a chapter or two, I can't remember how much but it could have been half the book, about self-actualization that I thought was very useful. About making your life full, so that you have a rich background of things you enjoy doing to bring people to.

It's been forever since I read it, but it's an interesting read, especially when Courtney Love is being den-mother to a houseful of pick-up artists in training. Neil Strauss can tell a story. He also wrote a biography about living with Mötley Crüe that is pretty depraved.

Melatonin ,

Give me a synonym. Until then I'll use it.

Torrenting exposes your public IP. In a country where government doesn't care, does that pose a risk?

I honestly don't believe I will have any legal trouble because I don't do anything like cp or worse, I just pirate media I like, not even porn. But across users of communities, or on public trackers, is IP exposure something to be concerned about?

Melatonin ,

Worse than CP?

NM, I don't want to know.

If you could take a single character out of a piece of media (book, film, TV show, video game, etc) who would it be?

They would lose any magical powers they may have had in the book, but anything they are, rather than can do, will stay. For example people from the His Dark Materials world would keep their daemons. You can take them out at any time in the story's plot, but for all other people consuming the media, it will be shown that the...

He's really a Dark Lord of the Sith you know...

Top comment, I don't care what the votes say.

Melatonin ,

Is it too late to turn off security updates and avoid this issue?

Melatonin ,

Not acceptable. I don't know laws in the UK but that person should lose their job. Workplace harassment is a serious offense, as you are REQUIRED to be there, so your employer is required to provide you with a safe, harassment-free workplace.

Keep evidence, keep everything, report everything, and keep doing it. Keep personal logs of who you talked to and when, what was said, even if there's no other record. It's possibly going to cost you your "team member" status, but that's what the harasser is counting on. They are sadistic, and they're going out of their way to make your life miserable and endanger your job and peace of mind.

Show them no mercy.

Melatonin ,

I know, and I wasn't taking the statements literally. But the point of the hyperbole was quite clear. Didn't be a dipshit yourself.
