I personally use AGPL, which is often seen as one of the strongest, most restrictive, licenses.

Good choice, I use it as well, but please keep in mind that AGPL is not restrictive

I really appreciate that they're working on new desktop environment. I'll probably switch from Hyprland to Cosmic once it's available on NixOS

Should I keep paying for Proton?

I moved over to Proton from Google because I liked the idea of having an alias for each service. After two months and a Mail Plus trial, I now pay for Proton Unlimited. I use Mail (due to alias linking), Calendar, and Pass often. I don't really use VPN that much (although it is useful sometimes), and Drive is just too slow. I...

You can pay less than $1/month for domain (i.e. on Porkbun or Cloudflare) and have unlimited email forwarding for services. Just set up catch all and forward that to your Proton/Gmail. And your own domain might be useful for you in future.

You have to use tailscale VPN for this, right? The article explains how to setup access to HA via the internet, without using tailscale client.

Anyway, the exit node thing is indeed very nice.

There is speculation that Lord Farquaad's appearance was inspired by Michael Eisner, the then–CEO of The Walt Disney Company, because of producer Jeffrey Katzenberg's animosity toward his former employer.

Aux is more similar to Nix, than Guix is.

Guix uses the same concepts, but still is very different.

Turns out that my motherboard's WiFi antenna is necessary for Bluetooth to work correctly

I was troubleshooting Bluetooth connection today and I thought that this is somehow related to software (PipeWire, bluez, bluetoothd and all that stuff). But no. Apparently Bluetooth barely works when WiFi antenna is disconnected from my ASUS motherboard....

How do you listen to music?

I use RiMusic. It's a YT Music fronted, look it up on F-Droid.

    How do you discover music?

    • Various films (especially James Gunn's)
    • Wikipedia
    • YT Music "For you" section and "Radio" feature

Maybe a wall-mounted screen that would, of course, help you exercise.

Instagram Advertises Nonconsensual AI Nude Apps ( www.404media.co )

Instagram is profiting from several ads that invite people to create nonconsensual nude images with AI image generation apps, once again showing that some of the most harmful applications of AI tools are not hidden on the dark corners of the internet, but are actively promoted to users by social media companies unable or...

There is no guarantee that play store build contains the same code as GitHub repository. Ideally you’d need to compile apps yourself.

But most of the time stuff like vaultwarden is trustworthy enough.

The need for a Fedi Union.

tl;dr I propose a Fedi Union consisting of the developers of Phanpy, Pixelfed, Peertube, Lemmy, and PieFed. That will work as a way to fund all of the services collectively (with the option to still go to their individual patreons and fund them seperately) and as a way for them to communicate to help all the services be more...
