I believe in the rights of the individual, which is why I support free health care, education, and housing for all, so that every individual has a chance to succeed, no matter where they come from.
The FTC estimates about 30 million people, or one in five American workers, from minimum wage earners to CEOs, are bound by noncompetes. It says the policy change could lead to increased wages totaling nearly $300 billion per year by encouraging people to swap jobs freely.
Differs from state to state. CA for instance has been shooting them down in court left and right--it's such a guaranteed win for you that no company would actually sue you over it.
Android app store says this shares purchases, location info, device ID and app interactions with 3rd parties... Voyager shares no data with 3rd parties.
It could only know that by navigating to the link in the background. That would have side effects, like them being able to track you even when you don't click on links.
The point of this is that it's a redirect. The link isn't taking you to xyz.com, it's going to abc.com which redirects to xyz.com. The abc.com server redirects to the second link -- there's no way to know where it'll take you unless you follow it.
I understand it since switching to vertical tabs via Sidebery. You can organize them into panels/groups/nested hierarchy, and tabs are only reloaded when you open them, so it's not as if you maintain 7k tabs in RAM. Think of it more like bookmarks that are actually organized and useful. It's what bookmarks might have been if not for Pocket.

Their strategy is very clearly making the university uncomfortable and getting the entire nation discussing it, so I'd say it's working pretty well so far.
I run nix unstable, so I get all the latest software. It's actually been very stable for me, and I love knowing I can rollback at any time if something happens to break.
I don’t trust Proton at all, and Obsidian is a nicer experience for this anyway. I had a ton of old notes, and now that a new owner is taking them all, it’s time for me to delete my account and move on.
If you trust Proton, you trust that they’ll remain e2ee securely. If you don’t trust Proton, you don’t trust that they’ll remain e2ee securely. I don’t trust Proton and actively avoid their products.

How did this happen in the first place, and why aren’t heads rolling? This was a shockingly bad decision that caused massive damage to their brand for a comparatively small amount of money. Even if they roll this back, I just don’t trust them anymore.
But notably the EU companies (e.g. Audi, Mercedes, BMW), while they have poor privacy scores from Mozilla, were not actively selling your data to brokers to hike your insurance rates. So there’s that.

Car companies are directly sending this data to the brokers in exchange for “low millions of dollars.” Imagine destroying all consumer trust in a multi-billion dollar brand for so little. I would never even consider buying a GM or any brand involved in this.
Crazy how American gov claims the EU is unfairly targeting American companies… if the American gov did its job to break up these monopolies, the EU wouldn’t need to in the first place!
