US prisoners are being assigned dangerous jobs. But what happens if they are hurt or killed? ( apnews.com )

Blas Sanchez was nearing the end of a 20-year stretch in an Arizona prison when he was leased out to work at Hickman’s Family Farms, which sells eggs that end up in the supply chains of huge companies like McDonald’s, Target and Albertsons. While assigned to a machine that churns chicken droppings into compost, his right leg...

How do you store your grounded coffee? ( slrpnk.net )

Hiya, just quickly wondering how people store their coffee? Mine is in a tin box I got second hand, cos I thought it looked nice. Any rules regarding storing grounded coffee? I don't store much at the time, it's just if I grind a little too much and what not. I'm assuming the general thumb rule for this is to store it in a...

Boy Scouts’ police Explorer program has faced over 200 sexual misconduct accusations ( www.nbcnews.com )

Birchmore’s case is among at least 194 allegations that law enforcement personnel, mostly policemen, have groomed, sexually abused or engaged in inappropriate behavior with Explorers since 1974, an ongoing investigation by The Marshall Project has found. The vast majority of those affected were teenage girls — some as young...

I won't try to convince you otherwise but I had to make this decision. I decided that the only way I was comfortable was by joining the pack leadership. BSA has had problems and will again not because of the organization but because the people looking for targets will go where the pray is.

The organization trains every pack leader and each year there are courses that are required for both kids and parents to help educate, and protect kids.

If my pack has a pedophile they hide it amazingly well. We enforce the buddy system for both adults and kids. The only time a kid is able to be alone with an adult is in their own tent and when they are a family unit.

But if my kids going to a meeting so am I or another family member I can trust. Hopefully vigilance am me education will be enough.

I am not claiming its not their fault, but im not sure that its the history of abuse that attracts abusers, I really think its because its a volunteer based organization and there are kids in it so it makes them accessible to abusers.

The point I was trying to make is that it really comes down to your local leadership, and the parents in your pack. We have a good pack, we have involved leadership, and the guidance from the larger BSA organization when applied seems to be working.

Any time you have kids, and an organized group where adults interact with them you will have this risk. Summer camps, Schools, Sports clubs, anything. If you look at the history of nearly all kid enrichment programs you will find pedophiles and abusers.

I had two in my high school both of whom were teachers of mine, and I only found out years after. One was protected by the administration, the other hid is paedophilia in a buried chest in the woods for years.

Headline from the BSA today: "BSA Joins Forces with the Department of Homeland Security on the Launch of the Know2Protect(TM) Public Awareness Campaign to Combat Online Child Exploitation and Abuse"

I just think its fair to point out they are trying, even if I dont love the larger organization. I definitely enjoy my pack.

The first Alamo Drafthouse in San Antonio TX. More than a few good memories there.

A close second place is the Latches theater in Brattleboro Vermont. I got to watch dozens of classic films there at the turn of the century.

My elderly neighbor was struggling to use her front door because the walkway had pulled away from the porch.

So I ordered some hand rails and got some pavers and made her a half step so she can safely use her front door and walk her dog.

She is super sweet, lost her husband at the start of Covid and has children, but none of them are really independent. So we keep an eye on her and I send my kids over to assist any time she needs it.

Create 3 VM’s and pass-through disks to each VM. Boom ceph cluster on a single computer.

ZFS/BRTFS might still be better, but if you really want Ceph this should work and provide expansion and redundancy at a block device level, though you wont have any hardware redundancy regarding power/nodes.

Just thought I would quickly share what can happen if you’re not paying attention with a heavy mass spool if you’re not careful. You are correct that injection molded plastic is generally stronger than FDM. I have a well tuned printer, and I use a .6mm nozzle which gives better layer adhesion than the standard .4mm while not having to sacrifice too much detail. I also print in a tent to keep the air warm and gain some effect from annealing the plastic which makes prints slightly stronger.

  • 0.6mm Cooper clad Nozzle
  • 0.3 Layer height
  • 1.2 wall thickness
  • 4.0 retraction
  • Use Adaptive Layers on

Filiment is Polymaker Pollyterra Charcoal Black

  • 190c/50c

The rest comes down to tuning, print settings only account for a small part of the quality in my experience. So I put lots of time into making sure my esteps are spot on, my bed is level, I have trammed all the corners.

That’s fine but you asked why it’s free and it’s free to you because you are the product.

If you don’t want to be the product it’s up to you to change the situation. Linux, Unix, Mac, Android are all options even if they are not options that interest you.
