Batteries on trains are not really needed if the rail is electrified. In Europe we have them everywhere. And better public transport reduces the need for cars. And ebikes can be the solution for many uses.
It only takes thinking outside the car box.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

UK has a problem with rails since Thatcher (IIRC).I

PS: stop insulting people. Thank you.

@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

The post is about Biden and Trump. Sorry for assuming things. But that doesn't mean you have to call me muppet. "I'm British and I disagree" (or something like that) would be better.

@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

If the transport companies don't require electric vehicles the infrastructure company won't builds it. I don't say that's the case but it could be. If everybody has only a bicycle you don't spend money on a highway.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

I know the problem in rural zones. I live in one. But if they can reduce the car dependency in cities and to some extend in big towns that's a lot of car batteries that don't have to be build.

And just as a note, there are electric tractors. Still small but...

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

One bus is 30 to 60 cars not used at the same time🙂
I don't say "stop building batteries" but "enhance public transport".

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

My bad. I was going to rant about the relation between train companies having to change the trains.

But I just remembered who is "governing" UK.

If the IBM PC used an ARM (or related) CPU instead of the Intel 8088, would smartphones ultimately have sucked less?

Developers still continue to shaft anyone that isn't using an IBM PC compatible. But if the IBM PC was more closely related to the latest Nexus/Pixel device, then would the gaming experience on smartphones be any good?

@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

But the ARM architecture is based on the MOS 6502 CPU and it is an almost successor of the Motorola 6800. So the roots are almost from the same time. Had IBM chosen the 68000 instead...

PS: the first ARM CPU was made in 1985. The 8086 is from 1978.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

Both the Motorola 6800 and the MOS 6502 were created in 1975.

The funny part will be once the car doesn't have a driver and is full autonomous. If the car kills someone, who's to blame?

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

I guess it would be the car maker's responsibility if you are only a passenger in the car.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

It's not the same. When you have a dog you use a leash and, if needed, you can restrain the mouth.

In this case you are not in control. And you can't be. You are just a passenger. And you should have the same responsibility as a passenger in a train: none.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

I don't know if I'll see it but in the future cars will be fully autonomous. And once every car can be autonomous human drivers will be banned.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

If it ends up being too expensive, yes.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

Only what I think it will be the "normal" progression.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

Now imagine the headlines if someone in Russia said this but for bombing Kyiv with nukes.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

The nukes were not thrown because of Japan but as a message to the USSR.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

"Modern" -> "current"

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

I think they should aim to turn all that CO2 to carbon fiber. That way they could sell it and and have a profit. That way would lead to others building their own capture plants (if there's money to win...).

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

So the CIA has needed "only" 6 months to get the info.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

Was false... because it was optimistic seen from today.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

Look for the main pollution producers and you'll be shocked (or not).

Just a hint: not the individuals.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

Except the Zionists have been working to conquer the place since the 19th century. They even wanted an arrangement with the Nazis to settle in Judea... but not for the Jews that were poor. Only the rich ones.

And I repeat: Zionists. Not Jews. Zionists.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

Proton should look who was asking the disclosure. He's a known far-right judge that opens cases like beer cans. And the "terrorist" group is marked as such because someone had a heart attack the same day there were protests in Catalonia.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

In Barcelona IIRC. Taking a flight (also IIRC)

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

So if a Russian judge had asked the same the outcome would be the same too? Or a Chinese one?

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

At least there are two other makers that already are there: Dacia and MG.

bufalo1973 ,

"They don't trust our lies like they used to!"

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

If that asshole didn't wanted anyone in his driveway he should have a good fence with a door, not an open one. As it has it (and with his trigger happy response) it's not s driveway but a honeypot.

@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

I have an idea: if a game needs internet connection and the servers are shut down the developer has too release all the info on the protocol of the server. That way an open source version of the server can be created and the games can work again.

bufalo1973 ,

History is not only the next step (applause) but all the rest (despise).

Not having preventive health care if like having a car, hear it make too many strange noises and not fixing it until it breaks and you end up on the side of the road upside down. You "didn't spend money" in minor fixings but you end up paying a lot more.

bufalo1973 ,

To me, Atari Lynx and Sega Dreamcast.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

The VCS is an old console, not a POS. When it was new it was state-of-the-art.
About the Lynx, the catalog is not long. You can get all the games (76 in total and the max size is 2 MB) and try some. I'd say California Games, Klax, Batman Returns, Toki, just to name a few.

So much giant statues in India... Are they compensating something?

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

Not necessary. Imagine you begin suffering Alzheimer. And the artificial neurons are making a copy of your brain. Once a neuron stops working the backup one replaces it. Your mind, if it worked, could see the new neuron as part of the same brain and work with it seamlessly.

I know people that travel more than that in Spain only to buy a kitchen table.

There a better way: if you don’t have a valid reason* to have a gun, you can’t have it. If you have a valid reason* but not to carry it, you can’t carry it and you can only use it in a target range.

  • Hunting, basically.

Many countries do almost what I said and are safer that the US by far.

They can rent the space to other businesses as “temporary office”.

Suggestion: dual boot. Use Linux unless some game you want to play doesn’t work (yet).

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

Do you really need that the majority of users use the same OS you use? It’d be nice but not necessary at all.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

I don’t see it. Better use less density (and cheaper) ones. Like the salt ones Chinese are developing/selling.

bufalo1973 ,
@bufalo1973@lemmy.ml avatar

You mean the “free world” that has Assange, Pablo González and lots of other journalists jailed? The same free world that has destroyed every country that didn’t fall in line with US interests?
