Just 57 companies linked to 80% of greenhouse gas emissions since 2016 | Analysis reveals many big producers increased output of fossil fuels and related emissions in seven years after Paris accord ( www.theguardian.com )

Note that this represents who extracted, rather than who burned. Responsibility for burning fossil fuels is much more broadly distributed.

People consume from what is available, the companies control that

Both elevation and tone intensity (and corner size is a possibility as well if it fits the brand)

boredtortoise ,

Yea they even got OBL murdered when they wanted. It seems that they just don’t want Putin gone for now, profits or “escalation” as a reason.

Thailand has decided that they will be going backwards next year. What are the two micronations in the Pacific?

boredtortoise ,

Thanks, interesting.

The USA, Russia and China have a common goal in Ukraine, to bolster their economy. A war of attrition is the capitalist way.

It’s been a wake-up call for Europe to unify their defence, hopefully soon before the imperialist forces annihilate them.

boredtortoise ,

The Zone of Interest was so good but even it got misunderstood

boredtortoise ,

China is the goal capitalists elsewhere try to achieve

boredtortoise ,

It was something like they made this movie to reflect atrocities in the past and present, and they refute to be connected to Israel who is committing their acts in the name of all the jewish

boredtortoise , (edited )

That reminds me of the feeling while at work. It goes something like “damnit I’m at work”

boredtortoise ,

Of course it could be CIA connected but likely is a too strong word with the information available at this point. Russia is fucking around with many groups all over the world

boredtortoise ,

Even if they were the actual suspects, torture isn’t ok in any case

boredtortoise ,

Scoped storage sets that an app which requests access to images, gets to only see images instead of a full file browser.

It’s a safety and privacy feature. I don’t think it can be disabled

boredtortoise ,

Yes. Maybe now the app supports it

boredtortoise ,

It’s worth recalling when support for the Chechen war was low, Putin initiated a campaign of apartment building bombings in 1999.

That was the immediate memory. It’s interesting how much truth will be figured out in this current case.

boredtortoise ,

I figured it got swept into the lone gunman category after all the details about Saudi arms deals and help smuggling the guns in got out. It’s kinda like the Epstein case.

Nothing current sorry. I followed the information drip during the event. Some could have been false information or speculation back then of course. It still seemed to be quite a lot of coincidences. I might check later if I’ll find any retrospective with those topics.

Edit: his Wikipedia article has documented some of those weird details which haven’t been explained

Interesting is that the hard far-right cabinet isn’t telling what information they have to base this decision on, while apparently the rise in numbers haven’t been a toll to Finland’s asylum seeker capacity.

boredtortoise , (edited )

Yep, it’s a known phenomenon from Russia. There’s just no evidence yet that those migrants could be denied entry. They aren’t generally at any fault themselves and bad actors in their midst should be investigated.

boredtortoise ,

Maybe a general instance which has access to most of Lemmy or beehaw for a more curated experience

boredtortoise ,

There’s more fear in getting mutilated by Batman than getting headshotted from the shadows

I think I have five browser containers across three devices with dozens of tabs on each. I don’t sort them. Autocomplete from the omnibox usually gives an option to jump to the tab I need.

boredtortoise , (edited )

They don’t oppose capitalism (example Russia & China). It’s closer to a support for authoritarianism (usually anti-USA, but even there shifts towards more authoritarian leadership receive support)

boredtortoise ,

Marxist-Lenininist, or Stalinist. Sometimes Maoists are included. It’s like a pseudofascist offshoot and later antagonist ideology of Marxism. Historically they’ve purged communists etc.

boredtortoise ,

The clearest split between right wing and left wing is the belief in capitalism.

boredtortoise ,

Well said. The ML offshoot caused deaths of numerous communists and gave a reason to the red scare, harming the progress of Marxism for decades

boredtortoise ,

In Finland, the social democrats are leftists only in right wing rhetoric. Their actual politics are definitely still inside capitalism and not actually leftist. One could consider them centrists in a way

boredtortoise ,

That tracks. China’s (imperialist) abuse of Africa isn’t the message they want out there. They frame it as win-win collaboration

boredtortoise ,

Yeah it’s a running joke (which might be too real to be funny) that the world superpower countries are split on if their game plan is to follow 1984 or Brave New World

boredtortoise ,

Sounds like it’s correct on Modi, but skirts around the topic with other examples

boredtortoise ,

The majority of the global workforce is at the risk of a burnout. No app needed

boredtortoise ,

Yeah I won’t myself but I hope someone fixes all of this

boredtortoise ,

Yep. That’s one of the paths which have led here

boredtortoise ,

Banning Starlink from Ukraine but not Russia… Banning Putin’s adversaries… Hmmmmmmm

boredtortoise ,

Profit is profit. Maximizing isn’t mandatory, it’s greed

boredtortoise ,

Disregarding different societal norms, I find it interesting that some people don’t have the intrinsic need to gtfo to a more personal space, be it either nice or shitty parents.

boredtortoise , (edited )

That’s pretty certain. On the other hand, the real conspiracy theory is that Epstein is alive and the body was a double

boredtortoise ,

Even the security cam situation is an obvious smoking gun

boredtortoise ,

It integrates to the assistant keyword detection, hotkeys and gestures

boredtortoise ,

Sure. It’s not mandatory, those are just the benefits of the app
