Oh no, definitely do something as a parent, like lock some apps or something. But with stuff like social media it's almost impossible to keep your kids away from it, especially without government intervention. Pretty sure some kids nowadays also just get bullied into using social media, even if they're not interested in it. I mean, kids get bullied over not having any Fortnite skins...
You're absolutely right! I feel like sometimes you need to pull your kids in the direction you think is right for them.
And I think if a parent does a really good job at explaining why things are the way they are and at giving their kids a good understanding of right and wrong, then those kids will figure out a lot of stuff on their own very quickly.
I just see two extremes way too often when I go out:
Patents who let their kids do whatever and don't establish themselves as a figure or trust and guidance.
Parents who take it too far into the other direction and force their own beliefs on their kids, maybe even passing on their own trauma.
Neither one is good imo. But also, keep in mind that sometimes (young) kids just ask questions to get a certain reaction out of you lol
Honestly, the majority of people with lots of money that live in my city have the least classy houses. It's either some soulless concrete corpo block or some gaudy thing with roman pillars in front of the entrance. That's the shit they don't show you on GQ lol
Is there anyone here who's worked as an engineer for Google, by chance? I'd honestly like to know about their work culture and how they would deal with stuff like this internally. Like, are the line managers understanding, or are they just screaming at their employees if shit hits the fan?

I was thinking of buying a Meta Quest 3, because of a lack of similar devices. I wasn’t really seriously considering it, but I sure as hell am not at all now.
Framework is a great company, but I’m a bit torn on Fairphone. Not sure if I like where their company is going.
EDIT: Because some people asked for clarification about Fairphone, here are my (very subjective) thoughts:
I think the idea behind Fairphone is great, and I think more phone manufacturers should take a few hints about repairability and sustainability from them.
That said, their software is just okay, missing a lot of QoL features that are found with other manufacturers. Also, I’ve seen reports of pretty gnarly bugs after OS updates, but I can’t verify those personally.
Their customer service sucks, according to a lot of people. And as someone with experience in both industries (mostly customer support) I can tell you that those things usually speak for a lackluster management.
Also, small nitpick: I really wish they’d kept a headphone jack on their newest phone.
So yeah, as I said, mostly very subjective. But hey, no one said that liking or not liking something can only be for objective reasons.
