This would actually work out fine because she'd get he new bottle, hit it as hard as she did with her diluted bottles, then to proceed to throw up. The nausea alone from nicotine overdose should be a decent deterrent.

Psythik ,

Can relate. Last year I learned HTML+CSS+PHP and then built and ran a radio station called Radio Lemmy. It was the whole package. Even built programming blocks and brought on DJs. I did this all in under three weeks.

And then two months later I got lost all motivation and shut the entire project down. Didn't even make a post in the community for the station. One day the station/website existed, the next day it didn't. I feel guilty for fucking off, but I'm too embarrassed to go even check to see if anyone made a post asking what happened. Even created a new account in a different instance to hide. I'm pathetic.

Fucking ADHD. I'll never have any accomplishments in life because I lose all motivation to carry on the moment I have to actually put in work to make the dream a reality. I've always wanted to run a radio station ever since I was a kid, but it stopped being fun and started feeling like a job way sooner than I wanted it to. I'd love to reboot the concept but I know I'm just going to get tired of it and ghost the listeners a second time around... *sigh*

Psythik ,

I tried to bring others on but hardly anyone was interested. It was a struggle enough as-is just to find reliable DJs. Nobody wants to work for free, and frankly I don't blame them. And unfortunately I didn't have the funding nor the listener count to bring in enough revenue to actually pay people. Lemmy just doesn't have a big enough pool of users to keep a project like this rolling. I thought about recruiting people from reddit but then that would defeat the whole point of having a radio station just for Lemmy users.

As a childless Millennial, nothing sounds weirder to me than to hear someone speak like a Zoomer and mention having a child in the same sentence. In my eyes, y'all are still teenagers.

Psythik ,

The phrase "fancy myself" is the whitest-sounding shit I've ever heard.

Psythik ,

Not sure if this is sarcasm or a reference I'm not getting, but just in case: It's not AI generated. I know this because the sign in the background is legible. The hand belongs to the woman to his right. The photo was taken right as he was lifting his hand to adjust/remove his sunglasses.

Psythik ,

Is that logo on the port-a-potty a reference to Back to the Future 2?

Psythik ,

My bad. Having ADHD can screw up my reading comprehension pretty badly at times.

Devil's advocate: Given how many old TVs there are out there that are still working and have dedicated buttons for long-dead streaming services, is this really that a big of a deal? The moral of the story is don't put dedicated buttons that go to services you don't control on your products. But that'll never happen...

Psythik ,

Look, I get it; I'm 36. But I've also come to terms with the fact that 1990 was not actually 10 years ago. Smart TVs have been around for long enough now that old ones can exist. Especially given how much faster the tech is evolving now.

My last TV from 2020 only lasted 2 years before I sold it and got a newer set. The old one couldn't even hit 120Hz @ 4K; it could only do it at 1440p. So when I built a new gaming PC, I had to get rid of it just to be able to play at my TVs native resolution and refresh rate. And don't even get me started on how much better and more affordable OLED is now compared to inferior display tech like IPS and VA. Just four years ago they would have been out of my budget. Which proves my point that TV tech evolves much more quickly than it used to.

Psythik ,

I just figured it was cause he's an egotistical asshole.

Psythik ,

I was using the term "app" long before smartphones were a thing. That said, "program" was the more commonly-used term for me in the 90s.

Psythik ,

An HDR calibration/troubleshooting tool for KDE.

A port of SignalRGB, or a similar app that allows me to set up RGB using a GUI interface where I can arrange the lights to match my physical setup with my mouse. OpenRGB is too cumbersome.

A proper port of Nvidia Control Panel with no features missing (I especially need the 3D settings screen and RTX video enhancement settings). Or ressurect ATI Tray Tools and add more features for both GPU manufacturers. Nvidia X Server is woefully inadequate.

Psythik ,

Or maybe a 100% science-based dragon MMO?

Psythik ,

Yes you still need the ROMs since these PC ports contain no copywritten code. Like the other person said, you will need to compile the game yourself, but there are tools that automate the process. It's simply a matter of getting all the files you need in one place, and clicking a few buttons. The hard part is obtaining all the files (well, more tedious than hard, especially if you're not a programmer or a Linux user).

Psythik ,

Yeah IDK either, this place is not nearly as addictive as reddit so I'm not on here daily, either.

Psythik ,

It's impossible to tell without knowing the focal length of the lens used. Different camera lenses can make things appear closer or further to each other than they actually are.

Psythik ,

I just assume that it was time dilation due to editing. The actual journey was much longer. Don't think about it too much cause then you'll start to wonder how long that song actually is, and then you'll start to question why anyone randomly breaks out into song to begin with, and how everyone seems to know the lyrics despite being complete strangers.

Psythik , (edited )

Don't you MAGA hats have anything better to do than complain about liberals all day? For fucks sake, PLEASE find a hobby.

(edit: well shit; turns out that I said this in fucking Lemmy.ml. I thought I blocked this shithole. No wonder why I'm seeing comments like yours.)

Psythik ,

TIL that BG3 is an RTS. I thought it was just an MMO or a DotA/LoL predecessor.

Psythik ,

Social Democrat, here: Both of you people suck.

Psythik ,

Let's be honest here: how many people are really still getting their news from one of those formally mainstream outlets? Not a single news outlet is in the top 50 most visited websites. Cable and satellite subscriptions are at an all-time low and nobody even bothers hooking an antenna up to their TV anymore. We all just stream everything. And when's the last time you've seen a newspaper on a driveway? I know I haven't in over a decade.

What I'm saying is that what CNN, NBC, ABC, NYT, etc. don't report on is irrelevant, because nobody gets their news from them anymore. Most people get their news from social media and word-of-mouth.

Psythik ,

The funny thing about the way the law works is that it's only illegal if you get caught.

Psythik ,

Or a job that requires you to get up in the middle of the night. You'll be in bed long before 10 pm, even on the weekends.

Psythik ,

Every time I try this, I usually just end up passing out at like 4pm and then just crashing until noon the next day. It never works. Making up for sleep debt, is what I like to call it.

The only thing that helps is getting a job that requires me to wake up at 1am, but even then my body still doesn't want to get up before 12pm on the weekends.

Psythik ,

And then of course there's the oblkgitory Ship of Harkinian for my Ocarina of Time fans, which is probably the most feature-complete PC port of an N64 game ever.

Psythik ,

Does it have to be dosed a certain way, because I've only ever tried it recreationally and it didn't do anything for my depression. The euphoria wore off very quickly, and tolerance built rapidly. The whole experience lasted less than 20 minutes, IIRC, with no "afterglow" unlike with psychedelics and MDMA. Very short trip and then back to normal. Redosing was futile.

Psythik ,

Yeah seriously; I've been seeing ads like this in games since at least the 6th generation of consoles (PS2/GameCube/XBOX). I distinctly remember seeing Napster and Cingular Wireless ads in Tony Hawk's Underground 2, for example.

Hell, in the 90s we had entire games that were basically ads, like Chex Quest, Cool Spot (7-Up), and M.C. Kids (McDonald's).

Psythik ,

Wait, is that what these brain chips are for? Well now I can't hate on them as much as I used to if they're meant to help people learn how to walk again. I thought it was just supposed to help you process thoughts more quickly or something, like a math coprocessor in an old 90s PC.

Psythik ,

In what universe are prepubescent children having sex?

Psythik ,

I see you've never been to Long Beach, CA

Psythik ,

Blocking Hexbear, Lemmygrad, and Lemmy.ml fixed 99% of my issues with this place.

Psythik ,

I was so upset when Hyundai said that they weren't actually going to release the N Vision. I was really excited for that one cause they put so much work into making it look like an actual car you'd see on the road. I thought for sure it was coming out.

There's always the new 400Z if you want a modern sports car with retro styling. But even that one still looks too modern... :/

Psythik ,

I would but I was born here and don't know of anywhere better that has legal weed and not a completely out of control cost of living.

Psythik ,

Regardless you should still play Chip's Challenge.

Psythik ,

Your loss. That game defined my childhood.

Psythik ,

The game is very repetitive, anyway. I was bored after about 20 hours. By then you've already seen everything there is to see.

Psythik ,

Hmm well I played on and off for about a month and didn't notice anything new.

Do you know if they plan on adding some new game modes? I'm already sick and tired of the whole "shoot bugs, rescue hostages/blow up objective, shoot more bugs then extract" thing. I get that a lot of shooters have a tendency to only have 2-3 game modes max, but those games at least have PvP to keep things interesting.

Psythik ,

When I bought the game it wouldn't let me play without creating an account, and that was over a month ago. I guess the requirement is only just now rolling out for the majority of players?

Psythik ,

I prefer Windows 11 for its superior HDR support. No other OS even comes close to making HDR as easy as 11 does.

Psythik ,

If you have an HDR monitor, then 11 is worth upgrading to. AutoHDR makes things so easy; it just works. No need to even bother with calibrating anything; no need to worry about switching it off when going back to SDR content, either. All you gotta do is flip the "Use HDR" switch, set HDR tone mapping to "Auto" on your monitor, and then forget about it. That's it, couldn't be easier.

Meanwhile in 10, I have to turn off HDR every time I go back to SDR content, and in KDE, HDR doesn't even work properly yet on my LG C1. Neither issue exists in 11. HDR just works.

Speaking of which, I like to add cannabis distillate (like the stuff they put in carts) to Everclear and stir until it's completely infused in the alcohol. Then pound the shot, chasing it immediately with a beer (do not try this without a chaser). Wait 45 minutes and you will be higher than you've ever been in your entire life, I guarantee it.

Psythik ,

Chase it with whatever you want, but personally I find that a carbonated alcohol beverage makes cannabis much stronger by an order of magnitude. But I also use weed and alcohol daily so you should probably ignore my advice unless you're in the same situation as me and just want to get as fucked up as legally possible.

Psythik ,

Does anyone else get irrationally upset when people leave pizza boxes wide open like that? You're letting all the heat escape!

Meanwhile I have to keep everything I eat in a food warmer up until the very minute I'm about to eat it. Warm foods taste so much better when they're hot.

Psythik ,

One feature I found extremely useful is that you can now quote previous texts. Less useful is the ability to react to texts with emojis. But it's good for letting someone know that you saw/liked their message by reacting with a thumbs up.

Psythik ,

The recommendations are the main reason why I ditched Spotify for YouTube Music ReVanced. Spotify seems to believe that my tastes in music are more indie than they are, just because not everything I listen to has hit a Billboard chart at one point. YTM tends to play the same songs over and over again, but at least they're songs I recognize.

Also why would I pay $10/mo for Spotify Premium when I could use YTM ReVanced for free and just block the ads? Which is the second reason why I switched.
