This doesn't seem that bad. At least they didn't use the abominations that are black "olives". Greek/kalamata has a better flavor but green aren't bad.
LONDON, May 20 (Reuters) - Tesla is working to appease some European leasing companies after the automaker’s repeated retail price cuts tanked their fleets’ value and its slow service and expensive repairs alienated their corporate customers....
I hope everyone who can cancels their Tesla contracts and gets another fleet vehicle. Tesla fired enough people to signify they are getting out of both the car and battery business. So like, their whole fucking business. Elon destroyed Tesla's future in a fit of pique.
WASHINGTON, May 18 (Reuters) - Several top White House aides say they are confident protests across U.S. college campuses against Israel's offensive in Gaza will not translate into significantly fewer votes for Joe Biden in November's election, despite polls showing many Democrats are deeply unhappy about the president's policy...
Some do. As a Freshman in college I was an idiot because I was raised on years of conservative talk radio every day to and from school. Took a bit less than a year to realize all that shit was made up and get deprogrammed. Then it's been a leftward trend ever since.
Belief is irrelevant. PR would always say this to downplay affects and keep supporters engaged. Apathy will kill Biden's chances more than anything else.
This person needs to hire a cook and get a sex doll. Actually scratch that, door dash. He's way too fucked to interact with other humans. I feel bad for anyone in his life.
Not all work. Just work you have to do to not starve. We have enough resources to provide a basic living for everyone. We can then use work as an incentive for more luxuries and encourage people to explore the types of work they want to do. Like creative endeavors. Pay more incentive for the work people dislike doing but is still necessary. We'll figure out what work is actually necessary and what is just spinning wheels.
I often have a lot of time where nothing needs doing and there's no meetings. The idea you always have to be working and creating is dumb as it means you always overwork everyone and miss targets. It's better to have people standing by a % of the time than to be unable to perform when needed. It's the entire concept of IT as well.
I got that in HS, too. Took till like college until I started caring about dating. But that was in like 2000 so it was a lot less accepted so it was appreciated.
This is probably sarcastic, but in case it's not: Applesauce is a vegan substitute for eggs, not oil. There is no substitute for oil as many oils are already vegan. You can definitely substitute animal-based fats like butter and lard for others like coconut oil to make a recipe vegan.
That's great info and I'll check it out. But I mean in regard to this meme: what do we do now? Because this meme seems to be addressing the 2024 general election in the US and it makes it seem like there's 3 voting options. But to my knowledge, there isn't a popular 3rd party that meets progressive or anarchistic values. So is this suggesting not to vote? Other direct action like a strike? And if so how does that address the issue of the election this brings up?
It’s more of an open question. eg “You need to do something else because voting will not stop fascism.”
In the FAQ there are questions like J.2.9 “What do anarchist do instead of voting?
So this was an undercurrent I wanted to address: are you suggesting that Americans not vote in the 2024 general election? Because I feel that's incredibly short-sighted and damaging. I agree with your points of working to get ranked choice voting and other measures passed in all states quickly. But people still need to vote against the obvious fascist candidate in the short term. Damage control is important because if Trump gets elected, no one is going to have time to organize. The last 4 years I only occasionally check the news or when I see stuff on Lemmy. When Trump was President, I was checking the general news feeds multiple times a day to ensure that he didn't do yet another insane and damaging thing that I had to immediately plan for. And I'm in a privileged class. Vulnerable people have to do so much more to stay safe and a second Trump presidency will get thousands killed. No one's going to have time to campaign against FPTP when they are organizing just to stay safe from government and militia persecution. If Trump gets elected again, it's pretty much over. And anyone eager for a civil war hasn't looked out enough to see what hell that is.
Anarchist Library: At its most basic, voting implies agreement with the status quo.
This is silly and reductive. Voting is damage control. Not voting is handing one of your only means of change and your voice away to your worst enemies. I'll look into it more, but that's a false premise to start on. It's idealistic to the point of self-destruction.
You can vote, but that won’t make a meaningful change.
Medicine doesn't stop death forever, either. And until we can cure the fascism or put in enough barriers to prevent it, we still must survive in the short term. Diatribe over.
My personal (european (although it shouldn’t matter)) opinion is that americans should try do build communities outside of government control so when things go bad they have someone to rely on.
Do you have any suggestions on what that looks like? Because Americans have all the same communities and groups Europeans do: unions (lesser extent), religious groups, community organizations (school based, local government), LGBT+ organizations, local political orgs, hobby groups, etc. But I don't see how that directly helps matters. They will provide community and potentially safe spaces, but only if they aren't infiltrated. And if there's a fascist government, there likely won't be any groups outside government control. They will seize control of everything and make illegal anything they don't control. So I guess I don't understand what type of groups you are referring to.
It really needs to be a disqualifying factor for generative AI. Even using it for my hobbies is useless when I can't trust it knows dick about fuck. Every time I test the new version out it gets things so blatantly wrong and contradictory that I give up; it's not worth the effort. It's no surprise everywhere I've worked has outright banned its use for official work.
Fun fact: video games stop rendering everything the player isn't looking at. That NPC right behind you that's following you around? Not rendered until you look at it. There's also a common technique where scenes at a great distance are rendered with fewer polygons (detail) because the player can't perceive the full detail.
In this case, we assume the girlfriend is both far away (out of town) and yet still observing the OP (rendered at all).
The vast, vast majority of men (in the US, can't speak to other cultures) need therapy. Just getting over internalized phobias is something the entire culture needs. Really, everyone needs therapy at some point and very few have a chance to get it, and fewer take it.
But in regards to this meme: men tend to need therapy more. The patriarchy (what society pushes as male "culture") heavily represses emotional expressions and few men have an outlet to talk to their friends or family about their feelings. This leads to a lot of repressed emotions, lashing out, etc.
Agreed. Most of us need therapy because we are in an aggressively hostile society. In a humane society, we'd only rarely need therapy when traumatic and rare events occurred, or similar instances.
It's impossible to tell. But my statement that pretty much everyone needs therapy, especially men, still stands.
That and it's a joke meme not a personal attack. Because often men do engage in distractions instead of dealing with their feelings. Everyone does, but men have less-encouraged avenues to pursue dealing with it. This is meant to convey that many men are disadvantaged at dealing with issues, know the solution, but still refuse to try to fix it. It's a common enough occurrence that this is a meme.
This is a generalized meme. It's not really about anyone in particular. But tell me why this really engaged you and makes you feel like you need to challenge it. Perhaps you feel it fits closer than you'd like to believe? Does it remind you of something your parents said?

F.A.T.A.L. is known for its graphic violent and sexual content, as well as the complexity of the underlying game system, involving higher-level mathematics
Hah. I was mostly just joking as it included higher maths in the same sentence as the highly sexually explicit content. But that's interesting that they decided to implement such a convoluted way of getting to stats instead of just simplifying it with a table.
Yep. Military moving equipment around, even just packing up, costs money. There's a cost+ contract somewhere that was just waiting for funds before anyone was even allowed to look at the armaments.
Telling a woman to "smile more" is indeed sexist. They are people and people rarely tell men that. Also people don't need to put on a smile to please others.
The Dasher is just suggesting it might be a good idea as a service worker and doesn't know anything about the customer.

That's how I know it's real. If they don't leave a message they don't care enough. The only people I want to talk to are like my doctors offices. My friends and family text and message.
Do professors give leniency to an 11 year old in class or are they getting the same experience an 18 year old would get?
If I was going to guess and be pessimistic: her parents were in class with her. She likely wasn't living on campus at 10-14 and can't drive so she's likely escorted.
Especially when there isn’t clear harm being done to another person.
We have lots of laws to protect people from themselves and from the lies of corporations and such. Seatbelt and helmet laws are the most obvious. We can't, as a society, expect people to be an expert on every subject. So people make laws to enforce certain actions to protect people from ignorance and misinformation. Hopefully these laws get passed after a lot of scientific evidence shows they are necessary and not political bigotry like cannabis bans and such.
