Jesus is their savior, Trump is their candidate. Ex-president's backers say he shares faith, values ( apnews.com )

As Donald Trump increasingly infuses his campaign with Christian trappings while coasting to a third Republican presidential nomination, his support is as strong as ever among evangelicals and other conservative Christians....

At least this will probably hasten the demise of religion in the US, as young people see the hypocrisy.

If you're going to define your movement as anti-genocidal you should really have a firm grasp on what genocide is and who is committing it:

Article II of the Convention defines genocide as:
... any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

  • (a) Killing members of the group;
  • (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
  • (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
  • (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
  • (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

Hamas, what Israel has been clear they intend to destroy, is not a national, ethnical, racial or religious group. However, Jews/Israel/Israelis, what Hamas has been clear they intend to destroy, are. Therefore, legally Oct 7 was an act of genocide, and Israel's war on Hamas is not. Such a designation has nothing to do with body count.

I support Israel because I oppose the genocidal. Binding their hands and preventing them from retaliating in self-defense only serves to support genocidal Hamas by keeping them in power.

It's almost as if words mean things and have specific definitions, especially legal ones. Feel free to criticize such behaviors with different accurate words for things you don't like.

If someone punches you to death, declaring they weren’t trying to kill you doesn’t make them any less guilty of murder.

Actually, in the US it could. Intent is the difference between murder and manslaughter.

Sorry to invade your echo chamber with dissent. It must pain you to be reminded that not everyone agrees with you, that must be so hard for you.

an occupying nation like Israel can not claim self defense when attacked

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. A blockade is not an occupation.

Oh, I forgor, the United Nations is Hamas now.

Oh no don't forgor. They're not Hamas but they do exhibit significant anti-Israel bias.

Three countries were on said commission of inquiry:

Navi Pillay (South Africa), serves as chair, Miloon Kothari (India) and Chris Sidoti (Australia) serve as members of the commission

Many more opposed their methods and conclusions:

June 2023, United States and Israel joined 25 countries in condemning the open-ended nature of the UN investigation and "the long-standing disproportionate attention given to Israel in the council."

But that's the UN for you, lots of scrutiny and condemnation of Israel, not a peep when Jews are ethnically cleansed from neighboring countries.

Oct 7 literally is an act of genocide, see my post above. You're saying they don't have credibility because you don't understand what genocide is. This designation has nothing to do with body count.

DarkGamer ,
@DarkGamer@kbin.social avatar

Are you really suggesting that every asymmetrical war that is conducted successfully is genocide? O.o

Although I'm very impressed by the results that LLMs have been producing, as long as it is probabilistic there's a lot of tasks it will be unsuitable for. For anything critical it needs to be right all the time and hallucinations and model collapse are not acceptable. However, I can totally see it being the natural language interface that then gets handed off to non-probabilistic endpoints.

Sadly, it's a worse echo chamber. In my experience mods are far more likely to wield power like little dictators and ban for good faith dissent, as there's no governing body above them to prevent this. I've been banned for being pro-Israel by several such petty tyrants.

Upvotes and downvotes are generally per-server though. It's interesting to see how posts and submissions are regarded on other instances.

"Everything I don't like is fascism," & "both parties are the same," these glib hot takes just provide cover for actual fascism. Biden isn't sending anyone to mass graves, genius.

I blame the blue dog Democrats who neutralized that majority, not Obama.

DarkGamer ,
@DarkGamer@kbin.social avatar

Such hyperbole. Democrats do not support genocide and it's clear you don't know what genocide is.

US politics is just professional wrestling,

In the past American politics was comparable to K-fabe, politicians of opposing parties would take jabs at each other in public and sup together in private. That isn't how American politics is anymore, it has never been more polarized and politicians of each party today are far less interested in finding common ground.

Usually the GOP are the bad guys, but this time it was the blue dog democrats…

Pointing out who is legitimately responsible for things isn't misdirection.

Whatever it takes to keep the class helping policy from being passed.

That's not what's happening. Have you noticed the resurgence of union power lately? That's thanks to Biden and his labor board appointments. Unions support him. If you care about helping the working class so should you.

Netanyahu gone sounds like a very good idea. I hope Israel is able to make that happen. Speaking of the carrot and the stick, Netanyahu is the stick. Hopefully whoever replaces him is the carrot, and can make some diplomatic progress towards peace.

Is giving Israel more fucking weapons to kill children “diplomacy”?

You can't defend yourselves, children and collateral damage exist! Just let them genocide you this one time without eliminating the threat, as a nice little treat for Hamas.

Classic queermunist.

Supporting our allies in a time of crisis until the threat is eliminated is the right thing to do.

Carter is a genuinely good man, and I think he got a raw deal as president. He was ahead of his time in many ways, like when he installed solar panels at the White House, (only for Reagan to remove them shortly thereafter.)

To a certain degree, as they mentioned in the article regarding the casimir effect. While one cannot keep out the quantum foam entirely, it can be restricted to specific wavelengths by altering the volume of the space.

“Trump Bad” as a campaign strategy is losing Democrats this election.

What an odd take, considering every election is about candidates proving to the public that they are better than their opponent for the job.

Trump led an insurrection against the United States of America. Maybe return to that.

Isn't that also, "Trump bad?"

The Chinese EVs are heavily subsidized by the CCP. I suspect they want that sweet sweet driver data, and to put foreign manufacturers out of business.

Sorry to inform you that many people disagree and reality sometimes conflicts with your preconceptions.

No, my comment was providing more context, by pointing out that HRC, rhe source being cited by this BBC article, is not an unbiased source when it comes to matters regarding Israel, as detailed in the link I provided.

It is highly relevant and not derailing at all, you just appear to hate on anyone who refutes your narrative.

Casualties due to collateral damage and fog of war are quite normal in war, but HRC holds Israel to a different standard than every other Nation, is far more critical of Israel, and takes a lot of money from Qatar and sources that are very anti-israel.

They are not a good source for information regarding this conflict unless you want your anti-israel preconceptions catered to, which it seems you do.

You're presuming this was IDF without evidence to that effect

DarkGamer ,
@DarkGamer@kbin.social avatar

And you're presuming it was one of those three branches without evidence to that effect. Lot of presuming going on here.

DarkGamer ,
@DarkGamer@kbin.social avatar

I'm saying you shouldn't make up a story without evidence and you should save your outrage until the facts are in. It's not complicated. You don't know what happened. Stop pretending you do.

You are clearly eager to blame Israel without evidence.

The quality and variety of what produce you can eat will be much higher, though. There's a lot of cultivars that don't make financial sense at scale but are wonderful to eat.

Bravo. You took the unique thing about the setting and character and made it into unique gameplay elements that fit the theme and sounds like fun. Superman's dilemma is not being able to stop everything despite his power and the rules of the game tell that story. I think you'd be a good game designer if you aren't already. The only thing I can think to add is maybe Kryptonite makes him have a health bar and diminished powers for a while, so he has to turn from the cat into the mouse for a little while until it wears off, kind of like stars in GTA.

What Wario game are you referring to? I haven't owned a Nintendo system in a long time.

It's a good time to be a PC gamer, this is a good move for Square Enix. I really like how even games from decades ago are still playable and very affordable. There's a big market for quality single player RPGs as evidenced by the success of Baldurs Gate 3 and Persona 5 Royal.

DarkGamer ,
@DarkGamer@kbin.social avatar

I'm informed and simply disagree with you. Is that not allowed? Is disagreement always "propaganda?" Do you prefer an echo chamber?

Israel is not infallible. This is a war, sometimes they get bad Intel, sometimes collateral damage happens, sometimes there's fog of war…

In both of those attacks Israel was targeting militants and appears to have hit civilians.
