Yes but the amount of people disgusted by a person licking a public toilet is unfortunately higher than the amount of people who are disgusted by Nazis

The oligarchs need more time to monopolize the market. Can't have folks growing their own plants when there's money to be made now

Love me some Minion but to be fair Nate trains the fuck out of his animals. An owner wouldn't have to go through as much effort as he does for a polite housepet

Except Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft were already paying Twitter crazy money for the API to begin with. Musk could have kept his mouth shut and kept that money but being a greedy asshole apparently matters when your trying to extort more money out of other greedy assholes

Men behind the doomsday seed vault in the Arctic win World Food Prize ( apnews.com )

As Cary Fowler and Geoffrey Hawtin began thinking about ways to prevent starvation and protect the world’s food supply, they came up with what Fowler called “the craziest idea anybody ever had” — a global seed vault built into the side of an Arctic mountain. ...

By a lot of shit you mean a hoard of domestic employees that he definitely thought of as his slaves then yeah he went through a lot. He's never been meaningfully told, "no you can't have your way" by anyone

Eating something, drinking some water, getting as much sun as possible without getting burnt. Those three will take care of most of it to be honest with you.

CobblerScholar ,

Y'all I get that the news has to get paid for somehow but all the scummy shit they do to be able to make ends meet makes me not want to give them any money ever

"Out of doubt, out of dark, to the day's rising
he rode singing in the sun, sword unsheathing.
Hope he rekindled, and in hope ended;
over death, over dread, over doom lifted
out of loss, out of life, unto long glory."

Rest now King and may your spirit find its way to the halls of your ancestors

Unless you can swallow an extremely dry puck the size of your palm in one bite I think you'd have trouble doing that in the first place

CobblerScholar ,

And would be changing shape and texture as it did so, you'd have to be trying to swallow it

The criticism is that in creating the midichlorians the force became less metaphorical and more literal. Before TPM the reason the Emperor lost wasn't because he had fewer "force points" than Luke or Vader it was because of a grander poetic narrative that some felt was cheapened by having the bigger number go brrrr

Sears From A Joke Being Torn Down ( lemmy.world )

American comedian Ron White frequently tells a story about how his van was damaged in a comedic way by the technicians at a Sears Automotive Center in Savannah, GA. This week, that Sears Automotive Center is being torn down. While the shopping mall that former Sears location is a part of is otherwise doing well, the Sears has...

A near-total ban on abortion has supercharged the political dynamics of Arizona, a key swing state ( apnews.com )

Arizona was already expected to be one of the most closely contested states in November’s U.S. presidential election. But a ruling this week instituting a near-total abortion ban supercharged the state’s role, transforming it into perhaps the nation’s most critical battleground....

They shot themselves in the foot with taking down roe v wade, now they’ve upped the game to using missiles for said foot incapacitation

CobblerScholar OP ,

Well the leather is from the color swatch thing furniture stores use for showing color options so it’s probably like a chrome tan something or other with some extra finishing. As for how long, I’m a real frenetic craftsman as my post history might suggest so I’ve got like a half dozen things all being done at once. Total time something like 2-4 hours across a week or two?

+1 on dexterity checks because I suck at fitting jewelry lol

Hammers, a vice and a MAP gas torch for when the copper becomes work hardened. As for what I do I’m a shoe repairman for a living but I just make stuff in my spare time.

Japan approves plan to sell fighter jets to other nations in latest break from pacifist principles ( apnews.com )

Japan’s Cabinet on Tuesday approved a plan to sell future next-generation fighter jets that it’s developing with Britain and Italy to other countries, in the latest move away from the country’s postwar pacifist principles....

CobblerScholar ,

Japan is next to two authoritarian nuclear armed countries that are both losing ground in geopolitics and have been for a long time. Now they can be all like, “these are just the jets we sell to other people, imagine how much better ours are”

The reason they got the money was by making the biggest waves though

If you haven’t heard them yet you’ve got to try the audio books when they had Andy Serkis read them. I tried to listen at work and I had to stop because all I wanted to do was nap

Tiefling Astorion would have put people not familiar with forgotten realms too on edge talking to the refugees. Astarion’s capriciousness would have made people think that was a tiefling thing not an Astarion thing

That’s what I was thinking, like my sleep is shit but I know it’s my fault because I hop into bed and proceed to cycle between youtube shorts, Lemmy and d&d sourcebooks on my bright-ass phone for hours. Bonus points for a blue light filter cranked all the way up so I feel better about giving my future self dementia due to sleep deprevation

Remember kids, fund your regulatory bodies so it doesn’t take the EPA to ban a substance so well known as a deadly carcinogen the commercials advertising financial compensations have become internet memes

They lost Babcock to the Leaves and haven’t been the same since

CobblerScholar ,

Exactly, to use a bizarre example it illegal to trade onions on the futures market specifically but the bill that law is in has broader language curtailing market manipulation through supply hoarding. If the right to repair gets written up it will set precedent
