Use it to see how new monitors are doing. Mostly a toy but I like it.

The book Everybody Lies looks at search data and based on that the racism was the same but outwardly admitting it has changed. It went from saying we're not in polite company to being loud about it.

InstaPot. I hate gadgets and things that have limited purpose so when this was gifted to me I planned to regift it. I use it so often I got an upgrade model. Totally worth the counter space!

On top of the other reply, soups, chili, ribs, whole chickens, the filling for chicken pot pie, pulled pork, shredded chicken for tacos, and so on.

Bonus picture, cheese sauce that's completely caramelized in the bottom with amazing cheese pulls every single time.

Sausage. No idea what kind but it was good.

Just in the bowl for style and heat. Everything stayed quite warm to the end.

I just swapped out my ~5 year old LG C9 for a new LG C3 due to a slight amount of burn in. It was in the center of the screen and while nobody else could see it I could.

It's also our main TV.

For gaming it's amazing, incredibly low latency and the pixel smudging from poor pixel response rate is gone, so it's more like a CRT in that respect.

Denver Metro is on par with the cost of living of San Diego Metro. Lots of people agreed with you already and moved here.

Just do it in one 20 hour sitting with hyper focus. Ignore eating, bathroom breaks, and all.

Am ADHD and have done this...

Good choice, a favorite of mine as well. In the middle of the night when I'm supposed to be sleeping with a theme that often makes no sense in reality but I'm bought in 100% anyway until my alarm goes off.

Exactly! I spent an entire night playing a football game over and over in my head that didn't happen and wasn't important to the team. But John Elway just could not throw for a first down to save his life.....

This is what I thought was going to happen at the end of 2 and was so excited I had to watch 3 right away. I was disappointed.

Don't be fooled by randomness. Randomness comes in clumps. For example if you flipped a thousand coins every day for a year and measured how each one predicted the stock market, heads for up, tails for down, at the end of the year you'll likely have one coin that far out performs the average. But would you use that coin to determine your investment strategy the next year?

And yeah Boeing is now killing people outside of their planes.

That was a great read! Not something I've heard of before. Thank you!

And yeah it's related for sure.

BallShapedMan ,

Thank you, I can't take credit for it. I got it out of the book Everybody Lies.

It takes a ton of bravery to be a whistle blower when others aren't dying like 80 year old diabetes patients. It'll take even more now, and I hope there are more. Boeing needs to be kicked in the bags.

You're saying my intentionally over simplified example to get a point across wasn't perfect? Amazing analysis....

Do you go by the nickname Captain Obvious with your friends?

What celebrity has actually been a positive influence in your life?

Mine right now off the top of my head is Adam Savage, former co-host of Mythbusters years ago. I sometimes watch his Tested videos whenever he answers questions and he answers them very thoughtfully. A lot of his thoughts, takes and answers based on his experiences and point of view on life and career has helped me be more...

Bob Ross, I've always been an introverted person and didn't make friends quickly as a kid. Bob helped me become comfortable with that and just put my energy into things I do like instead of trying to be something I'm not.

That was the rewarding click for the day. I hadn't seen that yet and enjoyed every second. Thank you for sharing!

If you're interested in learning more, this particular style engine isn't likely to see it's way to the consumer market in any significant way.

This sent me down a rabbit hole, now I'm reading a manual on how to calculate the data.

When I asked what it meant she said it's double everything of the bbq baked potato. Two potatoes, two helpings of pulled pork and everything else for just a dollar more.

I won't be eating breakfast today, I'm still full from last night.

I'm not sure how much my brother costs, but the three of us brothers were running across the top of monkey bars and jump kicking each other. I kicked my youngest brother off and he busted his head on the ground. It's ~40 years later and he still has the scar on the back of his head.

I've injured two knuckles trying to get them to crack when they wouldn't. Eventually I broke the habit of cracking knuckles at all to prevent further injury.

For those who read about the doctor who popped one hand with no issue is only a sample size of one and he only popped the knuckles on that hand once a day. When I started trying to break the habit I was tracking and I'd often crack a single knuckle 30+ times a day and did for 20+ years.

Crack responsibly, unlike me, and you're probably fine.

    BallShapedMan ,
    @BallShapedMan@lemmy.world avatar

It was more like I could tell it would pop but it just needed a like more pressure. Popping knuckles stretches the tendons and my guess is since I was going it so much I stretched them so far that I had to push my fingers too far to get them to pop.

    BallShapedMan ,
    @BallShapedMan@lemmy.world avatar

I kept track of every single knuckle pop, so if I popped one whole finger it would be 3 pops. I started by measuring my baseline and then setting goals. If I made my goal that day I could do something nice for myself like play video games or get desert with my family.

    Took me almost 2 years.

And for 3 to 4 years after occasionally I'd have nightmares that I started popping them again. And over that same time period as winter would approach the desire to pop them got really intense.

If you have more than one floor in your house your WiFi antenna are likely pointed improperly. The signal comes out of the sides so have some horizontal.

That’s a fair point, when driving my wife’s EV it has the fancy cruise control that leaves a good sized gap and people are always taking advantage of that.
