I am pretty sure it's satire. "Has driver's license, can think for herself"
That must be satire.

You mean directories starting with a .?

Depends on the file manager, nothing to do with Android. Which file manager do you use?

user224 ,
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Oh, stuff in Android folder?

That's been restricted since I think Android 11.
You can still access it using a computer with MTP.

Though there may be some better solution I don't know of.

  1. You did misunderstand the point of this question.
  2. Yes, I'd prefer not being resuscitated. If I am finally dead, let it stay that way.

The last selling point of a Pixel was the quick updates and long update life

And I thought it was the ability to re-lock bootloader with a custom key which is why Graphene OS is only developed for Pixels.

What do you use ADB for?

Since adb backup has been deprecated, I don't see much use for it. Only for recent Android versions which disallow installation of apps targeting low API, as that can be bypassed using ADB.
Or maybe for apps like scrcpy.

As others said, Downloads folder.

But, if you use Google files app, it's possibly iffy as usual. Sometimes it won't show files when you click on "Downloads" in main menu, but you can navigate to the folder and find the files there. Then rename the file to something else (keeping in mind GFiles is case-insensitive) and rename it back. Now it should finally show up.
Same goes for Google Photos.

Also worth noting, you should create file named .ventoyignore in the directories with other files. Otherwise Ventoy searches everything which slows it down.

What, like Pandora, Spotify, etc is out there that I could add music I have on my phone/etc?

I've been using one of the Pandora services, but I've been getting a little annoyed with the stations (which I presume I would get the same annoyance from other services, too). So I'd like to be able to create a station and add songs that I own and that wouldn't normally be in that station. (And I know you can add artists to the...

I had a small bag of them for a year. I'll just dispose of it at this point. They're discharged so they likely lost quite a bit of capacity.

My dad used to use those. Better yet, from Wish.

And anyway, I have a similar bag of old 18650s to take care of. I should check their voltages now that I remembered it. I know their capacities used to be OK, but similar story. Haven't touched them for a while.

Absolutely. Perhaps not in this case, but often there aren't even viable alternatives. You can't stop buying everything.

And good luck only buying stuff not made with child labor and slavery.

There doesn't need to be a separate access panel. It can just be in a normal battery holder like so:
https://i.imgur.com/FFWxsa6.jpeg Replaceable CR1225 in Cisco 1802

Considering it's something that generally runs 24/7 for years, it may still be a good idea to clean out dust from the device when possible. That's also an opportunity to replace the RTC battery, assuming it's replaceable.
Oh, hey, it seems Cisco even used to provide some Li batteries until 2017.

Also, not all businesses need the networks up 24/7. There may be plenty of time for down time for maintenance.

If I want to quickly share something from my phone, I use NGINX in Termux with autoindex enabled.

No need for anything else than browser on client-side.
Actually, on Play store there's also a simple GUI app called "Simple HTTP server", but NGINX feels fancier.

Just a tip if you want to try this:
By default, error logs are kept. One source of errors is interface suddenly disappearing (i.e. your phone got disconnected from network). This error will be logged as quickly as it can be.
What happened (when this occurred)? I found my phone stuck in bootloop. The error log filled internal storage to the last byte causing Android system to crash and unable to reboot, which it tried again, again, again,... Bootloop. I just found my pocket suddenly feeling unreasonably hot.
In my case, forcing it into recovery, turning it off from there and retrying boot up freed 17MB from somewhere, allowing the phone to boot up.
Alternative to that would be a hard reset.

Sounds crazy, but any app could fill the internal storage like that.

WRONG!!!

Hard braking may increase your insurance costs: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/11/technology/carmakers-driver-tracking-insurance.html

TL;DR: General Motors was selling customer driving data to LexisNexis which provided them to insurance companies. Hard braking also contributed to a higher risk factor.

    Operation: Verdant Terror - A Beginner's Guide

Warning: Grass is a complex and potentially hostile ecosystem. Approach with extreme caution. This guide is for informational purposes only and does not guarantee your safety.

    Pre-Mission Preparations:

Psychological Evaluation: Undergo mandatory psych evaluation to assess your mental fortitude for grass contact.
Gear Up: Don a heavy-duty biosuit with maximum puncture resistance. Grass blades are surprisingly sharp and harbor unknown microscopic horrors.
Assemble Emergency Kit: Pack antihistamines, tweezers, and a portable decontamination spray in case of allergic reactions or parasitic infestation.

    Mission: First Contact

Location: Locate a designated "Grass Touch Zone" (public parks, backyards) during daylight hours. Nighttime grass is even more unpredictable.
Establish Perimeter: Scan the area for potential threats. Beware of territorial pigeons, playful (and potentially rabid) dogs, and unattended blades (rusty and tetanus-inducing).
Approach: Move slowly and deliberately, maintaining eye contact with the grass at all times. Sudden movements might trigger an aggressive response.

The Touch (Perform at your own risk):

Deployment: From a safe distance, extend a single, gloved finger towards a solitary blade. Do not touch in clumps! They may swarm and overpower you.
Observation: If contact is made, withdraw your finger immediately. Observe any changes in grass behavior (twitching, pulsating).
Escape: If the grass seems unreactive, retreat slowly and cautiously. Remember, even a seemingly docile patch may be plotting a surprise attack.

    Post-Mission:

Decontamination: Upon reaching a safe zone, thoroughly disinfect yourself and your equipment following the provided protocol.
Medical Attention: Seek immediate medical attention for any unusual symptoms (itching, hallucinations, uncontrollable urge to roll in the grass).
Debriefing: Report your experience to the designated authorities. Your knowledge could be crucial in understanding the true nature of the Verdant Terror.
Remember: Grass is not your friend. Approach it with respect and fear. This guide is just the first step. Only the most courageous explorers venture beyond basic touch. Good luck.

I am totally fucked up, so here's one:

"Are you interested in any mutual sexual activities (not limited to regular sex)?"

The problem is that I am hoping for a "no"...

Not quite something I'd want. Quite the opposite I'd say. As I said, I am fucked up. But nope, nope... I don't like that idea.
I don't know what to do about it.

Either way, valid for all questions by me, I'd like to include a note that not all (if any) questions need an answer. I am terrible at wording stuff, and something cannot be easily answered either.
(I am assuming this is done on paper or electronically. Otherwise it's most likely I'd just chicken out right away.)

I've been taking the same route twice a day for the past 3 years.

    No less interesting so far.

Actually, I am so weird I have the whole route recorded on my phone (from the window) like 4 times, and yes, I did watch it at home numerous times, in real time without skipping. Just like a movie.

No, it does not get boring.
