Gotta issue them a NIST 800-88 certificate and you're golden.

Can you briefly summarize the difference between dockge and portainer?

I use portainer for the most part and have no real complaints aside from some ambiguous error messages when containers fail to deploy.

randombullet ,

I've been trying to get a docker composed from my docker run commands, so I'm going to try it out

What block list are you using?

Two train of thoughts. Making something 1:1 ratio is a true "macro" lens for photography. Because you're increasing the size of the object to match the size of the sensor.

Then you got microscopes which makes things much larger than life.

For which manufactures call it what? Probably all marketing, but this makes the most sense in my life for justification.

Also Micro lenses are also used for marketing for CCD and CMOS sensors.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microlens

randombullet ,

Actually for cropped sensors it'll still be 1:1 but "cropped"

You can get more magnification if you use extension tubes or specialized lenses.

randombullet ,

I suppose tilt shift lenses can achieve that.

randombullet ,

Maybe liveboot it and do a smart test on the drive?

randombullet ,

I wanted to figure out the call of a bird, then I downloaded Merlin, and now I bought a 400mm lens to get sick photos of birds. What the hell happened

Lofoten Islands near the equinoxes.

We did a trip during the spring equinox and while things were still not cheap, it was not crowded and you have 12 hours to explore the northern lights and 12 hours to explore the islands.

A little snow on the ground still bust safe to hike a little.

The fall equinox you could definitely hike while it’s not crowded plus it’s warmer then.

Best deck games for a flight? (as in...possibly running on batteries)

Hi guys! So, yeah…Which games are good for a nice gaming session while on a flight? Last time I played one of the newer Tomb Raider games, and while performance was good, it decked (heh) the battery in less than 1h… So, while I like these too, if the flight doesn’t have a socket under the seat I might want to play games...

randombullet ,

You can call me a shill,

But I just get an Anker Prime 27,650mAh battery bank because it supports 140w PD.

Lasts my wife and myself a 4 hours flight with maybe 30% left over.

I got it because it can charge my laptop as well.

Steam deck is 40Whr and the battery is nearly 100Whr.

So you’ll get 2.5 times longer playing time with it.

randombullet ,

Woah, which countries?

I’ve traveled quite a lot and no one has even bothered me about my size.

randombullet ,

I can’t fathom a good reason for 4TB SD cards.

Most cameras have CF Express which is probably 5-8 times faster.

Even UHS-III is 600MB/s while CF Express Type B is hitting 4GB/s.

Even so, why would you risk 4TB of data on removable storage.

CF Express is also running PCI-E. This article isn’t talking about SD Express.

randombullet ,

Valid point, but I think most built in SD card slots are on a laptop can read 100MB/s. Hopefully yours is perhaps USB 3.0 speeds.

I use a toothbrush to clean it

randombullet ,

Odd, I just push the bristles through the other way and all the gunk gets pushed out

randombullet ,

You can just see which DNS calls it’s doing with any DNS overwriter.

randombullet ,

But if you have a DNS intercepter/redirect like RethinkDNS or DDG, it should show which queries are coming from which profile

randombullet ,

Framework with the 7040 series is fantastic. I can game satisfactory on it at around 60fps low.

I’m impressed of how well the APU runs.

That said, it’s unfortunately out of your budget.

Keep a lookout for factory seconds. They’re super cheap.

Thoughts on Guard.io as a service for lesser tech savvy family members?

Hi there, So just watched latest video of Jim Browning and in the video he had a sponsor I had not heard about before, Guard.io. So I went to check it out, and it seems like a fairly decent service (by that I mean, a service I would put on family members devices) for helping against possible phishing attempt and general...

randombullet ,

Just use NextDNS and PiHole/AdGuardHome and redirect all port 53 requests to your local DNS instance.

DoT and DoH will mitigate some phishing risks.

Social engineering is the biggest threat, especially through vishing.

randombullet ,

You can put them in another bucket with custom rules.

randombullet ,

I pay for NextDNS. It’s under new profiles on the top left.

From my memory anything that can offload VLANs to hardware is preferred. Pretty much means anything with a switching chip.

I think my RB 5009 can offload VLANs but are exempt from packet inspection.

It looks below for me. Because the nose is pointed the wrong way if it’s from above.

That makes it clearer. I didn’t think of that.

Additionally that’s why many munitions are designed to maim rather than to kill.

Puts a drain on time and resources.

I’m about 808 with my VantageScore. At most I use 14% of my credit utilization. On average I have about 7-10% credit utilization. I also have about 100k of available credit.

Personal stuff on personal devices.

Company stuff on company devices.

Never mix. I don’t even check my personal email on my work laptop.

If I need access to my home, it’s through an external connection like LTE.

randombullet ,

I think that with 802.1X you can’t do that unless you export the keys somehow.

randombullet ,

Could you have zoomed into the live view? I found that it helps a lot. But the camera would be to support it

randombullet ,

What camera do you currently shoot?

randombullet ,

You can zoom into the live view.

Set your focusing to manual focus then use the 100% button.

Could you practice before you go out? I think the bottom D pad or the FN button is the one that zooms in to 100%.

Pfft if you’re a pro hacker you would already know where I live and my mother’s maiden name.

randombullet ,

It’s really simple. Hardly use it for any heavy lifting.

I use Proxmox to play with VMs and Open Media Vault on top to be my NAS.

I’ve done RDP, but figured that it could only be done on desktop.

randombullet ,

Should I get a GPU that supports vGPUs or you mean like a GPU passthrough to the VM?

Everything is wired in my house so thankfully it’s pretty fast.

randombullet ,

How can a consumer GPu be used across multiple VMs?

Sorry if it’s a dumb question. I’ve never messed with GPUs. 90% of the things I do is headless and through CLI.

randombullet ,

This is fantastic. Thank you. I’ll probably get a low powered quadro then.

Or maybe is Radeon Pro better?
