I'm also looking for this community. You can try !cineserie!cineseries the instance is mostly french speaking but english speaker are welcome.

Have you tried asian drama? There is some very interesting story there as well as very bad one, but the cultural difference makes it always interesting for the westerner eyes (assuming you are western).
I would recommend the korean drama "Psychopath Diary" a hectic and hilarious thriller/comedy about a man who learn he's a serial killer after losing its memory but finding back his murder diary, and the chinese drama "Reset" a fantasy fiction where the character are stuck in a bus in a timeloop, their is a bomb in the bus but every time they hop of it to try to find there way out of the time loop, the police want to interrogate them about the bomb.

For comics, idk but for manga specifically the second country is France.

actual cultural proximity between France and Japan

Yes. It is also my perception. We are so far apart from each other, physically and culturally but somehow it fells like there is some link that connected us. For example, French and Japanese are among the hardest language to learn in the world, bc they both have a overly complicated writting system but somehow, there is an ease for a japanese speaker to learn spoken french vice versa.

TIL "My brother in christ" is use as a replacement from Nigga.
Thanks for the link.

I don't understand this humour. Would anyone care to explain it?

pseudo OP ,

I don't know Anime planet. It does streaming and tracking for both anime and "print". Is that right?

pseudo OP ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Thank you. I'll try this.

If StackOverflow teach me something, that is that legal jargon about copyright isn't very efficient again ctrl+C/ctrl+V

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Angry users claim they are enabled to delete their own content from the site through the "right to forget," a common name for a legal right most effectively codified into law through the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Among other things, the act protects the ability of the consumer to delete their own data from a website, and to have data about them removed upon request. However, Stack Overflow's Terms of Service contains a clause carving out Stack Overflow's irrevocable ownership of all content subscribers provide to the site

It reality irritates me when ToS simply state they will do against the law.

How do you store your grounded coffee? ( slrpnk.net )

Hiya, just quickly wondering how people store their coffee? Mine is in a tin box I got second hand, cos I thought it looked nice. Any rules regarding storing grounded coffee? I don't store much at the time, it's just if I grind a little too much and what not. I'm assuming the general thumb rule for this is to store it in a...

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Just like me! Except I choose the small one. I wanted badly to get the lot but I don't have enough thing to store to justify it.

If you say so. I don't host so I don't have a technical view of the issues but I did see your picture just now from my sharkey account.

You can access toots from Lemmy as long as the OP mention the community as a user. For example "Hello world, I'm posting on @askLemmy". But that would mean we lemmings could only access content a threads user meant to send to Lemmy.

pseudo OP ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

That would mean I need to use my Instagram account to test the fediversion with Threads... That's too bad.

pseudo OP ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

So, if I choose someone from threads and tried to write to them, they won't receive my message?

pseudo OP ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Is it a bit like kbin where you have on oneself side community-like discussion and on another side microblog broadcasted to whoever wanna read it? Or is it a mix of these two format?

'Y a un youtubeur qui s'appelle "orteil" ?!

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek surprised by how much laying off 1,500 employees negatively affected the streaming giant’s operations ( fortune.com )

When Spotify announced its largest-ever round of layoffs in December, CEO Daniel Ek hailed a new age of efficiency at the streaming giant. But four months on, it seems he and his executives weren’t prepared for how tough filling in for 1,500 axed workers would be....

Can you live without YouTube ?

Today in a Privacy community a post about YouTube. No word about privacy but all about which software or settings are needed to watch videos and the money needed to host videos. It made me wonder whether some of you can lead a meaningful life without YouTube. Or will a cold turkey bring the worst out of you ?

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

As of today no. But I’m going by steps :

  • I’ve stop using it without a front-end.
  • I look for other source of content from my favorite youtubers (podcast host somewhere else, web site, social media, blog especially for cooks)
  • I search for content on other plateform before it (but it is far for being systematic right now

My goal is not to go full private or open-source but just less dependent on YouTube. Onfortunately so many youtubers are solely there.

Anyway, I believe that the day big for-profit intrusive company will stop leading the video hosting business, the format will get noticeably less popular as it is extremely ressource intentive. It will mostly replace by podcast and illustrated articles.

Do you have any recommandation that is not linux or tech related. I struggle to find content there but I’m sure I missed many things.

And the volume of butter changes a lot when melted. If thé recipe dont precise the form, you’ll need multiple try juste to know if you recipe actually works.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Fun fact : in France we mesure by weight except for the “gâteau au yaourt”. The yoghurt cake is the most basic cake with each family having it’s own recipe, a bit like maybe muffins in other places and this cake is entierly mesured in volumes.

The thing is when you get out at 4 pm to wait a bit for the first buses. Forget about cars.

pseudo OP ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

I am not speaking of something in particular. It was more of a general question. I usually figure it out how to install a project (usually…) but my question is more about technical documentation.

@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Not anyone find it good to be called by first name. And japanese culture is very attach to last name naming or I should say family name cause their are placing it the other way around.

@Lemman
There is also instances attached to national/local identity lemmy.ca, feddit.it, feddit.uk, jlai.lu (french), midwest.social, etc.

If you doesn’t understand the concept of federation very well, I believe it is best to pick a more general instance that doesn’t defederate much other. This way you will be able to explore community for many different instance and if you find a community to your liking, move there. Account migration is easy btw lemmy instances.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

The explanation given here are very good. I just want to had add that theoretically, any Lemmy instance can communicate with another instance from another fediverse software but in practice, developers haven’t had the chance yet to make sure every feature is compatible with the each every other software.
If you want to try sending message across the different instances and softwares of the fediverse without spamming or flooding people discussion spaces there is a dedicated community: !testfediverse

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Network effect. That’s why we need to keep the fediverse alive: so futur generation aren’t forced to signed into Facebook, Discord or whatever would be (or would have been) trendy.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

I’m glad that Reddit gave me the push I needed to finally join the fediverse. I absolutely love the technology to the point I don’t care so much about the content.
