Yes, youâve got it right. If Ukraine had been a member, Putin would have found another country to invade. Bullies pick on weak loners, not kids with lots of tough friends. The combined strength of NATO is more than the Russian military can handle.
I donât understand why this article was written the way that it was. Although the author makes several valid points, it is most definitely not NATOâs job to police all of Europe. NATO exists to ensure the security of member states. Aside from some unlikely situations, âstrength in numbersâ is all NATO is for. A simple idea, but an effective one.
I do agree that Europe should be doing more to help Ukraine. That has absolutely nothing to do with the current condition of NATO, though. This could have been a powerful opinion piece, but my main takeaway is that the author doesnât seem to understand NATOâs duties or purpose.
Itâs up to individual countries to make that decision - and I think everyone should be defending Ukraine more aggressively. I agree with a lot of what the author is saying, but he doesnât seem to understand what NATO is for. NATO is not a police force meant to defend all of Europe.
It turns out thereâs a very clear reason for that. I have seen the extremely restrictive off-boarding agreement that contains nondisclosure and non-disparagement provisions former OpenAI employees are subject to. It forbids them, for the rest of their lives, from criticizing their former employer. Even acknowledging that the NDA exists is a violation of it.
SO FUCKING WHAT?!?!? DO I NEED TO ASK PERMISSION TO HAVE A FUCKING HOBBY, YOUR MAJESTY??? JESUS CHRIST!!!(smashing noises and incoherent yelling from garage)
I got in on an earlier flight, and arrived at 6 it was a pain in the ass.. I literally had to walk around for like 4 hours until things opened, and I was so tired and weary all day.
Emphasis on âsomeâ. I used to work at a hotel. When people arrived at 11 AM expecting to check in, I had no problem making them wait in the lobby. I was polite about it, of course, but also firm.
Our housekeeping staff worked harder than anyone else in the building. I wasnât about to give them a hard time on behalf of some ignorant, inconsiderate people.
Youâre totally correct. Iâm thinking of instances when we were fully booked the night before, AND the guests who wanted an unannounced early check-in had reserved a specific type of room we didnât have many of to begin with.
If we didnât know not to allow late check-outs for those rooms, and housekeeping didnât know to keep an eye out for any departures from those rooms, we could run into problems.
I was always happy to help people out when I could. Getting positive feedback from guests was the best part of my job!
It is factual news. The artist, Vincent Namatjira, has done many paintings in this style.
Famous for his quirky style of painting, Namatjira is known as a âsatirical chronicler of Australian identityâ whose âpaintings offer a wry look at the politics of history, power and leadership from a contemporary Aboriginal perspective.â
The Archibald prize winning artist has used his unique style to paint notable figures from the Queen to Slim Dusty, usually to pretty good receptions.

First time Iâve ever heard of this. It it alluded to in the film? My initial reaction is that it couldnât be true, simply because Pepper wouldnât be willing to play along.
I like the Butlerian Jihad and resulting ban on even the simplest of âthinking machinesâ as a way to help explain away any anachronisms, too. Clever solution.
I also appreciated that the recent movies havenât tried to explain that, but hinted at it with, for example, analog gauges in the ornithopter.
The number of organizations involved, and their complete uselessness, just makes things even more pathetic and (at times) unintentionally hilarious.
ââŠBaltimore International Seafarers' Center, a non-profit organisation that works to protect the rights of marinersâ is an actual nonprofit? Guess what, folks, youâre doing a shitty job! Somebody else is thinking about organizing a cricket match to take these guys to? Seriously?
I sure am glad there are at least two religious organizations involved, because âthoughts and prayersâ always fix everything!
Sorry this is kinda political. Is there an asklemmypolitics group this would be better for? I'm hoping not to get into the libs vs progressives political debate we see everywhere on here... Just want to know what people are actually looking for.
Thatâs assuming there will even be candidates in the future.
In previous elections, I would have agreed with you, but Trump has already tried to destroy democracy once. I honestly donât think that democracy will survive a second Trump term.

Weâre better off without shithead officers like him.
Edit: I misinterpreted the comment I responded to. Thatâs entirely my fault. I should have read the article myself. This officer made an ethical decision I agree with. Sorry, folks.
True. For me, it was past 1AM, and I was just too tired to read the article. The mistake was completely my own responsibility. I have reworded the comment in question. Thank you for pointing it out.
