Detroit Become Human. It was a wonderful game, but there were so many decisions that changed the ending of each character. It was hard because I always wanted the happiest endings possible

Let them try .. I'm a cancer survivor with a compromised immune system. They can fuck right off and I'll be filing an ADA complaint.

Shelbyeileen ,

I'm severely immunocompromised. Let them try and get the mask off my face. I'd prefer to hit them with my cane, but in all honestly, it would be more effective to sue them on federal ADA violations.

I'm so glad I got sterilized once the RvW info got leaked. I wish I could thank whomever leaked it. In my eyes, they're a hero.

It's because it's a data stealing company. They require 24 different types of permissions, including keylogging, biometrics (your fingerprint), your wifi network, your Bluetooth, photos, contact info and it saves your payment details, just by using the app. It also was recently flagged for malware. You're getting a good price because you're paying for it in a different way

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you for clarifying!

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

Yup, a lot of my cosplay/fashion designer friends have had their work stolen and they can't do anything because it's international and they can't afford an attorney with their small business income.

Those cat paw socks, Danielle Baloo at Toe Beanies created them, several years ago and in the process of getting a patent, they were copied by Alibaba sellers. She was denied her Kickstarter campaign for drop-shipping, and had to fight for months, proving she was the original designer. Screw people who steal designs. She worked her ass off and they're selling her work with cheap foam that's not safe for human skin... I constantly report them.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

A lot do, actually. There's a bunch of places you can get paid for online surveys, people who can't work a normal job do them full time and most make ~30k/year from bed. It's been great for the disabled community.

I was part of this crazy thing called A Simple Walk into Mordor, where a group of guys from Rooster Teeth walked from the real Shire to the real Mount Doom (and Erebor in the sequel) in New Zealand. Finding an actual bathroom to use was a luxury. A sink is much nicer than hand sanitizer, digging a hole when you have to poop is not fun, getting an upset tummy is nerve-racking. When you've gotta go, you're gonna have to use what's available, not what's nice. Don't take what's nice for granted.

I have a postmortem science degree, but hobby in studying paleontology/pre-history. It took a rise of only 10°C and excess pollution to wipe out over 83% of all life on the planet between the Permian and Triassic eras. Entire chains of life just wiped out. Carbon dating, sediment layer study, fossil records, they all show how screwed me are if we keep this up. The earth will survive, it always does, but it took 30 million years before life recovered.

Humans need to learn from the past, see the consequences of what most would think is a small change, but the ones in power don't seem to give a shit.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

Mortuary science, pathology, autopsies, etc. I was going for a masters in Anatomic Pathology before I became disabled. I just research all things dead. I was always the weird little girl that liked studying mummies and fossils, so it seemed the logical step when I was choosing a career

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

Mass extinction events have a cause. The Permian/Triassic one I mentioned, is generally agreed to be from unusual movement of earth's crust, creating severe volcanic activity. The eruptions caused CO2 and pollution, meaning greenhouse gasses built up. The heat shifted water currents and the temperatures, mixed with acid rain, decimated life in the oceans.

Humans are basically the volcanoes in modern times. Yes, the earth goes through normal changes, but these temperatures are increasing at a speed that, to my knowledge, has never happened. There is a way of teaching kids about how long the earth's had life, that visualizes it pretty well. If all of earth's history were to fit on your arm, shoulder to fingertips, if you gently scratched your fingernail on something rough, you'd erase all of humankind. We have barely existed on earth, but are throwing it off balance like never before. (With the exception of the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, but that's a whole other tangent)

Having taken years of pathology/physiology classes, it really feels like the earth is a body, and it's getting a fever to try and deal with an illness... us.

Lmk if you need any sources. I can't exactly copy my books or the ones from my old college's libraries, but there's plenty of studies/resources out there if you're nerdy enough to dig 😊 (fossil pun)!

@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you for adding more information. I love reading more about this stuff. It would make sense if a meteor was related to the P-T volcanic activity. It would easily have enough force to mess with the crust of the earth.

Going for a topless walk on the beach at night! It's the only time I'd feel safe enough to. I've been sexually harassed and assaulted enough, starting back when I was a little girl, to know I could never do that normally.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

Not OP, but a lot of creatures are more active at night and not being able to see them can be very unnerving; especially if they touch you.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

Canadian geese... the damn cobra chickens are ridiculously protective, strong, loud, and grumpy. In Michigan, you just can't avoid them. They're everywhere and in the thousands. I've been attacked, my dogs have been attacked, they poop everywhere, and their wings are strong enough to break bones.
I do not like the cobra chicken.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

They attacked my dogs, and you're a random person on the internet. I think you can guess which side this girl is on... her puppies 😅 Can I also bring up how the aggression and all caps response really feels like an angry goose that learned to type.

Has anyone released an electric car which came with an extra battery for trip replacements, and gave you the ability to buy more batteries for longer trips?

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

They are. I went through pre-med for my postmortem science degree and am still close with my doctor/dentist friends from the program. They get kickbacks from companies if they successfully sell a brand. Sometimes the results are great, like Wakix (my Narcolepsy medication that actually helped), but other times, it's a garbage product. If the medical professional has a fancy pamphlet or offers you coupons for the product, that means the company is paying them.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

I'm in the USA, where you do pay, but the companies hawk drugs and other products anywhere that they can get approved by the government drug administration

I’m permanently disabled with a degenerative condition. Once I’m just surviving and not living, I’d love the freedom of a painless end. I watched grandparents suffer, I’ve watched them be kept alive through machines and drugs, I listened to my grandfather beg me for death… you’ll never change my mind that assisted suicide for the terminally ill is the ethical choice.

What's a common occurrence in your hobby that you think shouldn't be?

For me it’s driving while under the influence. If you couldn’t tell, I like me some ganja. However I have long since held the belief that it is utterly insane to drive while under the influence of most substances, with maybe nicotine and caffeine being the exception. All too often I see other stoners smoking and driving,...

There are a lot of cosplay elitists, that think you need to be a supermodel or look exactly like the character to cosplay them. Bruh, this is about creating art of our favorite Fandoms. I’m allowed to make sexy versions of characters, people are allowed to cosplay characters of different ethnicities as long as there’s no blackface, people can make costumes of anyone, even if they don’t know every bit of info from the source material. Let people have fun… this isn’t about you and all your gatekeeping is doing, is stopping you from having awesome and talented friends.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

It may be because I do cosplay erotica for a living, so people assume I’m doing it for money or attention. I do love when they try to gatekeep me and I know more about the Fandom than they expected. These costumes are EXPENSIVE to make, so I’m not going to waste my time and money on something I don’t love.

I do research and writing for a crime docuseries, and the amount of times sex workers go missing and cops/news don’t care until there’s multiple bodies or a more well known disappearance occurs, is DISGUSTING.

The Poughkeepsie Killer was killing sex workers in broad daylight and was keeping their corpses in his hoarder house attic. The families of Wendy Meyers and Gina Barone went to the press and were told that the cases “weren’t the kind the public cared about”.

Police had the suspect but didn’t pursue the case until 5 women went missing. Why do their lives matter less just because they do a different kind of physical labor for work? Each was someone’s daughter.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar
  • Over half of women in the USA have experienced sexual violence
  • 1/4 of women have been raped or had someone try to rape them
  • 1/3 of women have been sexually harassed in a public setting.
  • The leading cause of death of pregnant Americans is murder

There’s a good reason why we’re cautious.

You’re the one saying “all men”. I’m saying there’s a reason women are skeptical and distrusting of nearly all men UNTIL they’ve gotten to know and vett them. I do research and script writing for a documentary series about crime and was a mortician for a decade; so this subject hits close to home.

Back incollege, I was a waitress at an Italian restaurant. A lady came in ordered a dish with lots of tomato in it, then demanded I tell the chef she was allergic to MSG, in an accusatory way. What she didn’t know is that I was going to school for a medical based degree, and recently had a professor go off about how MSG is in tons of foods naturally and not to believe the craze about it being bad for you.

“Oh my gosh! You’re allergic to MSG!?! I’m sorry, but all tomatoes contain MSG. Please choose another dish” … “I’m sorry, ma’am but mushrooms have MSG in them too. I’ll talk to my chef and see what suggestions he might have.”

She changed her tone “I’m not allergic, I just don’t want it added… it’s bad for you… blah blah”

I didn’t get tipped, but it was hella satisfying to passive- aggressively educate her.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

I’m a girl who likes comics. Do it. If you can find a nerdy shop with snacks, even better. Ask her about her favorite characters and have her pick out one for you to read, if you don’t know it. That would be an awesome green flag for me. Be careful not to get too serious/gate-keepy, though. An open mind is the best way to approach this.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

Hmm… I’m a cosplayer/erotica model. So a seamstress that gets naked for money? Not too outlandish, but they’d never understand what cosplay was.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

Oh gosh that’s beautiful. “I get paid to make clothes and then slowly remove them” is more accurate but not as fun

Furries. They’re some of the nicest people ever. I’m a cosplayer and our worlds intersect a lot. They raise more money for charity than any group as small as they are, they’re kind and accepting, and they’re wicked talented. I trust Furries before muggles anyday

I was a postmortem scientist for a decade, and have a show called After Death, which focuses on SFX makeup and embalming, based on gruesome ways people have died! It’s on a page called Bad Day HQ which focuses on the worst days in history… crime, death, natural disasters, conspiracies, cryptuds, etc. Honestly best side gig ever. I love being teach people about really morbid stuff.

My work. This was shot at the Anatomy of Death Museum in Michigan… And the channel itself. They won Emmy awards back in the 90s/2000s

It has:

  • Mine disasters, where companies shut off oxygen, sacrificing people, so they wouldn’t lose profits
  • Deadliest human stampedes, where people were so concerned with getting to events that they trampled, crushed, and suffocated hundreds of people
  • Famines that wiped out large percentages of entire countries, that mirror what’s happening right now
  • History behind the Bermuda Triangle and the stories of planes and ships that have vanished there
  • Stories of some of the darkest crimes in history… from serial killers to gruesome, morbid deaths
  • Disasters and crimes that happened On This Day!

I’m really proud and have a plethora of knowledge, so please ask away. Actually ran the Wayne State Funeral History Museum for 3 years 🥰

As a kid, we were so poor, it was scary. I remember living in a car, having to choose between going hungry or eating food that was past its prime, and learning Santa wasn’t real too young (I couldn’t understand why my friends got expensive dream gifts… I thought I had been good)

After going through all that and my mom overdosing, I started collecting things that would accumulate value or were an investment. Comic books and figurines are my go to, but I’ve also got machines for creating cosplays (as that’s my career now). I won’t buy anything that I can’t pawn off in an emergency to survive, or use it to make money. I really should have been collecting coins/gold/silver, but I picked what was fun.

Also, shoutout to my elementary school’s lunch lady, who noticed a tiny, thin girl using the free lunch program, and offered her seconds, after everyone else had been served. I don’t think she knows how much she touched my life.

I knew instantly that she, like myself, was an adult content creator, because this keeps happening to women online; but especially to SWers.

I had a guy who wouldn’t take no for an answer and he stalked down and threatened my grandma. I had to get the police involved.

Meg Turney, her stalker learned she was in a relationship, and he broke into their home with a gun ready to kill them.

There was a story of a singer in Japan whose stalker found her location through the reflection in her eye, went to her house, and sexually assaulted her!

Anytime anyone says it’s so easy to make money with digital sex work, I tell them stories like this. We have to put our photos out there to advertise, we have to show interest in our supporters, we need to traverse so carefully… our lives might be on the line.

Disability (which I paid taxes for, to protect me from poverty if I became disabled) pays a whopping $914/MONTH.

I sell nudes to afford basic necessities.

They also have an asset cap of $2,000 which hasn’t changed since 1974. Basically, if I have more than $2k in my bank (or in any valuables like comics or coins) at any time, they take away my food and Medical insurance. If adjusted for inflation, it would be $13k. I’m drowning and lucky I’m an attractive girl, otherwise I couldn’t afford to survive.

Shelbyeileen ,
@Shelbyeileen@lemmy.world avatar

I had to lawyer up and fight to prove I was disabled, even though I had medical documentation of seizures, severe Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Tachycardia, etc. If you don’t have a lawyer, they automatically deny you. Lawyers only get paid if they win, so if you’re not lawyered up, they assume you weren’t bad enough for a lawyer to take the case.

I contacted a senator in my state and she basically told me that Social Security is going to run out, so the cap hasn’t changed because only people with no other choice will be on disability, and it’ll last longer

I know this is four months old, but I’m getting nonstop gambling ads after googling how to block them and its driving me insane. I hate that I’m not alone in ad hell… I’ve lost people because of gambling addiction and it is RIDICULOUS that there isn’t a way to block ads for things that are dangerous, if they become addictive.
