sorry for being angry on main but someone who should really know better than to slide into my mentions with "actually covid is no big deal" really threw off the start of my day
so apparently the big secret to tasty fries is ... peanut oil. you cook em in peanut oil. or toss them in it and airfry em. that's literally all you need
remember when trump said if we just stop testing for covid it would go away as if by a miracle and everyone thought that was a scandalously stupid thing to say
on an entirely unrelated note since 3 weeks ago the CDC no longer requires hospitals to report covid hospitalizations and now biobot is no longer showing covid wastewater data for the US
Do you enjoy whack a mole type minigames in video games? I do, though I don't really know why, they're so stupidly simple. But I love getting a perfect run
Eurovision likes to make sure we know they're non-political.
In fact, their international competition broadcast around the world is SO non-political, they even let Russia compete, despite Russia's ongoing war and human rights atrocities.
checks earpiece Sorry, I'm just getting this in now, there's a rumour that Russia is, in fact, not competing in Eurovision. Reasons unknown at this time.
cant wait for AAA games to all look like pieces of shit without a cohesive visual style because of utilization of machine learning models while indies become the ones that actually have a unified aesthetic
@eniko tbh I'm not sure where the actual lines are around AAA, AA, etc, but I feel like as more time passes, the less interest I have in the ones I see being called AAA.
Next person to casually ask me if I "could just..." in a professional setting is getting bit
I cannot just. I am working from when I get up to when I go to bed every damn day without weekends. I have no remaining overhead to "could just" your request
In cosmic horror stories, which world is more real: the mundane world the character has lived in their entire life up til that point, or the new world discovered beyond the veil?
"The market will efficiently allocate resources where they're most needed!"
Meanwhile, the market: we're putting this "AI" thing that doesn't seem to work and everyone hates into everything you use including your mouse. We're sure this will make us rich somehow. Do you like this? [Yes / Ask me again later]
@eniko I was so disappointed when I saw someone trying out the character creator and the roegadude was huuuuge, and then they switched gender and the max height shrank so much
going through old images i stored and found this classic. for a while i put "most likely to be the next phil fish" in my bio on twitter as a point of pride
@eniko I was gonna say if I could, I'd pay you enough to not have achievements, but then I realised it'd probably upset The Gamers even more if I paid you to not have achievements other than one solely awarded to me.
Today I've read about a bunch of farmers who probably had H5N1 but refuse to test, cats getting infected by drinking raw milk on farms, and a dolphin dead from it
Honestly not feeling very optimistic about this one. Wish I could trust any of the soothing things governments or media are saying about it but I won't fall into that trap again now I've seen how they behaved during the still ongoing covid pandemic
EDIT: And I should clarify I wasn't going out of my way to see H5N1 news, this is just stuff that has come across my feed organically in the 1 hour I've been awake lmao
@eniko Recommend sterilising the affected area, plus a buffer of not more than 10% of the size of the area around it, unless cause for further sterilising is found.
so who's idea was it exactly to make a US-based mastodon non-profit and bring in a bunch of vulture capitalists and "AI" tech bros to "help" grow the ecosystem
Spice racks are adorable. Your wee lil rack can store 16 containers? That's so cute. Anyway this is what a spice rack looks like for people who cook a lot
And we still constantly find recipes with spices we don't actually have
@eniko I have a magnetic spice rack on the wall, a tub of herbs and spices at one end of the kitchen, a section in the kitchen cupboard, and various jars squirrelled away wherever else they'll fit.
Recipe-wise I'll usually find something that works as a base, then after I've gotten used to it I'll make changes as I like.
One thing I want to try is a shakshuka made with green capsicums instead of red, with the cheese, herbs, and spices set to a more Italian theme, 'cause I noticed green tastes
One time on twitter I commented on the dancing robots propaganda video they put out a few years back that I found it creepy and concerning and this one guy who had followed me and been pleasantly interacting with me for a year or two completely blew up at me, ranting how I was a joyless luddite who feared and hated progress and fun and then blocked me
Anyway I just saw a post that they're fitting one of the dancing robots with flamethrowers now
don't make a community project and then ask the community to support it and then scream at people for only being 98% positive about your project. obnoxious behavior like that is an easy block
