Be cool if most of the enrolled protested and transferred elsewhere. After all, they only care about money.

It's like these dipshits forgot the Civil Rights and Vietnam protests. Very rarely do college students up on the wrong side of history.

Crazy that the Kent State protests shooting anniversary just occurred.

What if they play football?

I would love to see the venn diagram of students that support the anti genocide protestors vs. the pro genocide counterprotestors...

Either way, many people to teach and learn from when discussion these topics at length!

Let us keep learning and growing as humans!

AmidFuror ,

Is it really civil disobedience if you want to break laws to bolster your point but you don't think there should be any consequences?

dogslayeggs ,

What laws are people breaking by peacefully protesting? Many of these college campuses (not all) where protests are happening are state schools, not private property, so I don't know how trespassing laws work when you are a student who is allowed to be on campus 24 hours a day to study and whatnot.

AmidFuror ,

If they broke no laws there is no reason to expel them, according to Daniels. So there's no problem here worth discussing.

disguy_ovahea ,

Of course. We can’t be arming free-thinkers with knowledge. Just imagine the repercussions. /s

Ex-Purdue president and ex-governor. Seems like an important part to leave out. Mitch was a shitty governor and a shitty college president and that should be made clear.

phoneymouse ,

It doesn’t matter if they’re actually “breaking” laws, the government will find a way to make sure they are. It’s the subject of the protest that they don’t like.

Thanks for the link to the TED talk!

How the US Is Destroying Young People’s Future | Scott Galloway | TED [18:06 | May 02 2024 | TED]

In a scorching talk, marketing professor and podcaster Scott Galloway dissects the data showing that, by many measures, young people in the US are worse off financially than ever before. He unpacks the root causes and effects of this "great intergenerational theft," asking why we let it continue and showing how we could make it end. (Note: This talk contains mature language.)

I literallly watched this video just yesterday. I guess that's probably the youtube/google algorithm at work

Algorithms are really useful tools!

Sadly, SEO and other profit>people companies mess it up and use tools for degrading and worsening the working class...

“I think that the proper consequences here, first of all, are expulsion from the university,” Daniels, who is also the former Republican governor of Indiana, said in an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday.”

Daniels said he does not support the idea of taking away student visas from those who “support Hamas,” the U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization that carried out the Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

“Although if somebody broke the law, I suspect that there already are the rules that require or at least permit the termination of their right to visit this country. You don’t have a right to come in and harm others, and there has been some of that [going] on,” he continued. “But no, not in general.”

dogslayeggs ,

I feel like I've seen more stories of pro-Israel counter-protesters causing violence and harming others. But fucking Mitch was a terrible governor and didn't do much good as a president of Purdue, either, so he probably wouldn't acknowledge that.
