A link is great but xitter doesn't let anyone without an account even look at content from their page anymore. Is there an alternate place to see these?
Whether it's Mercedes or Okada (why not both?) I think that's how it should be done. Let them come out to save a future ally to a HUGE pop and then when the segments over cut to TK's announcement, which can be something like, "See that awesome free agent? Well guess who just signed them!"
I'm with everyone in saying I think it's Mercedes. I'm worried it's gonna be an announcement for a Boston show though because that would mean we're month+ away from her showing up. Just get her on screen already, damnit.
I prefer Kbin. It has the latest features (magazine collections, an aggregate view that combines threads and microblog posts, more options, etc.) , and I really like the developer @ernest. Aside from just being cool, he posts frequent updates over on @kbinDevlog.
Something worth noting is that Kbin doesn't have many instances. Kbin.social is the main one, and the only other decently up-to-date one I know of is kbin.earth, run by the creator of the Interstellar app for Kbin. On the other hand, Mbin has more instances, as most established Kbin instances switched to it at the time it was created (during which Kbin development had been inactive for about a month). Also, Mbin has a more community-oriented development system tmk, whereas Kbin development is closely managed by Ernest.
Hey cool I'm replying to myself via my brand new kbin account! Your comment about having an All Content option combining maga and micros made up my mind for me!
Welcome! Yeah, the All Content view is great — probably my favorite feature added in the past few months. I have my home page set to Subscriptions (All Content), and it's the best. I see threads from my favorite magazines and microblog posts on tech & fediverse stuff.
Image uploading on microblog posts should be fine. Right now, Kbin's image uploading UI doesn't actually give any visual feedback when you click the upload file button, but it does upload.
In general, Kbin (and by extension Mbin) is quite early in its development, so you'll run into a good few bugs and odd UI issues. They should be resolved in the near future, and as I mentioned earlier, you can go to /m/kbinDevlog to follow progress.
Kbin.social has just had some big issues recently and still hasn't fully recovered (which is why development is currently stalled), so it's absolutely possible you'll run into more issues currently than usual. Not sure if what you're experiencing there is part of that though.
@ThatOneKirbyMain2568 Since you seem to be much more acquainted with the ins and outs of Kbin, can you tell me if there is any way to see the pictures contained in the posts in their full size from the get go or a single click? I click the thumbnail to get to the post, and then have to click it again because the picture in the post is the exact same size as the thumbnail. I know it's not a huge problem, but even having a peek feature like reddit does would go a long way.
The image icon in the bottom left corner of image posts can be clicked, showing the image at a larger size (i.e., what you'd get if you were to enable "Auto Media Preview" in the sidebar). There are a couple of userstyles that make this more button-like, such as kleanbin and (my own userstyle) idkbin.
Crazy Americans and their socialism paranoia. If any of you have lived, over a year and not a US military base, in a 1st World EU country, you will realize how a proper healthcare system, education, labor laws, infrastructure, transportation, income distribution, gun laws, government, etc...should work. All of these entities are public services that prevent people from becoming insane and reducing the life is cheap attitude. The USA is no longer number 1, with exception to the defense budget, but well-managed public services and labor laws similar to Finland, would improve life in the USA.
Also let me interdouce you to Switzerland, from Wikipedia:
" The economy of Switzerland is one of the world’s most advanced and a highly-developed free market economy. The economy of Switzerland has ranked first in the world since 2015 on the Global Innovation Index and third in the 2020 Global Competitiveness Report. According to United Nations data for 2016, Switzerland is the third richest landlocked country in the world after Liechtenstein and Luxembourg. Together with the latter and Norway, they are the only three countries in the world with a GDP per capita (nominal) above US$90,000 that are neither island nations nor ministates."
At the cost of whom, though? Milllions of brown people slaving away in the global south and the destruction of the planet. If that “works” for you, cool.
Switzerland is a fucking mirage. That country exists how it does purely because immense amounts of money is pumped into the country by billionaires. If you try to buy wurst in Zurich it’ll cost you somewhere around 13 francs.
The economy of Taiwan is a highly developed free-market economy. It is the 8th largest in Asia and 20th-largest in the world by purchasing power parity, allowing Taiwan to be included in the advanced economies group by the International Monetary Fund. Taiwan is notable for its rapid economic development from an agriculture-based society to an industrialised, high-income country. This economic growth has been described as the Taiwan Miracle. It is gauged in the high-income economies group by the World Bank. Taiwan is one of the most technologically advanced computer microchip and high-tech electronics industries makers in the world.
veda scott signing, a new women’s japanese/american tournament, and a tjpw/stardom/aew sister show to forbidden door, and a new summer/fall long women’s, tag team, and men’s round robin world cup of wrestling with groups and wrestlers (signed, unsigned, and from other promotions) from all over the world because i can dream :)
Hope it is: Mercedes (just to get it the fuck over with lol).
Hope it isn't: Announcement for an announcement, announcement of a future show halfway across the world (a lower third and a 10sec commentary mention more than suffices), the very unlikely rumour that Rossy Ogawa is partnering with TK for funding for his upcoming joshi venture cause I wouldn't trust Tony to not fuck up Neo Stardom™
Hard disagree on the future show announcement. If, like it was for All In, a major show for a major AEW market, then it deserves a major announcement, not a brief throwaway. You want to sell lots of tickets to shows like that you have to start by making them seem like a big deal.
edit: not that I think a foreign show is the likely announcement :)
I tried Room Assistant a year or 2 ago and it SUCKED. I have a 4 storey townhouse and had 2 nodes running Room Assistant and I could be stood next to 1, two floors away from the other and that's the one it said I was closest to.
The idea is that by detecting the strength of the Bluetooth signal, the node with the best signal was closest, but it just didn't work (for me).
Anyway espresence is better, especially because I've doubled up and I bought 4 esp32 boards with pins off AliExpress for under £12, and arrived within a week.
You connect the little chip to your pc and flash a firmware from Google Chrome, then hook it into your WiFi, go to its page and give it a name, and hook it into your MQTT.
4 boards later I have a node per floor.
Next I added our phones to it by pairing them to it, then deleting the pairing on the phone. Add the Bluetooth connection to HA config and you're away! Well...
So you have to connect what the boards say to what it means in HA yourself. You get "bedroom" off Espresence and have a Bedroom zone but you have to put the pieces together yourself.
I ended up making binary sensors for each room in Node Red. Did I leave the room? Who else is there, nobody? Ok mark it clear... You could just make helper switches and use them but I was feeling fancy. I've already posted recently about the Binary sensor.
But once you've done that, you just base your automations off the state of the switches you made.
So the age old "The front room motion sensor stopped detecting, should the lights go off?" question, now becomes...
Huh I must have stopped typing there...
...much easier to solve. I can still have the old "TV on?, wife's laptop connected to Bluetooth?" bits in, but having Bluetooth presence detection AS WELL makes it much more reliable, for a measly £12
This is very interesting, thsni!
How fast are the base stations? Is it all down to the smartphone speed to connect to a BT device?
What smartphone are you using?
You pair the device to a base station once to create an entity but you don't have to if you know the mac of your phone. So there's no pairing involved in the tracking.
You can use the HA app to create a beacon on your phone when you're on your home WiFi and not pair anything, just plumb the id into HA.
The speed is quite fast but there is still a lot of false positives. I've sat and watched mine and my wife's phones just pinging around the house, but if you add some "for X seconds" to your automations it becomes much more stable.
I've got 3 android phones and an iPhone tracked at present
Literally just has to stop funding to Israel wherever he's able, whether it's using his veto or directing the State Department to delay aid or make disbursement more difficult. He needs to publically condem the genocide like every sane person with two eyes has been able to do for months. No more blocking UN resolutions, no more calling student protestors antisemitic, veto the The Antisemitism Awareness Act etc.
He needs to do what people have been demanding since the very start of the genocide. Do what people were saying when they voted Uncommitted, what students are saying when they protest; stop giving Israel a blank check, stop pretending to criticize them"behind closed doors", stop funding genocide and carrying water for a fascist right-wing government.
He needs to do it now, the longer he delays the more people die, the less likely he is to get people to vote for him.
