I'm interested in things (computers, mostly. Old computers, handheld computers, personal computers, minicomputers, etc). Sometimes I also like manga, Pokemon, Vocaloid, or other things.

I like programming as a hobby. Mainly in C and Python but I try to branch out sometimes if appropriate. I also like sensors and automation. Check my media tab for more!

The problem with outsourcing your chat or forum to third parties is that you don't own them. That is correct

The problem with self hosting those things yourself is that 1. nobody will use them because why aren't you just using this 3rd party app that everyone is already using and 2. have fun doing your own spam control

Seems like a bit of a damned if you do damned if you don't situation if you ask me

@eniko @oblomov @spots1000 It wouldn't surprise me. I try to afford the benefit of the doubt to anyone trying to stand up to the big guys [Steam], but odds are against them and a lot of folks will try to do it without understanding how a business works and that rarely ends pretty. 😩

youtubers stop using the term "asset flip" for reusing an enemy sprite or model recolored for a different enemy challenge

words have meaning and that is not even remotely close to what that term means

@eniko Do the kids not say "palette swap" anymore? I use it quite a bit but it's usually around normies and they seem just as puzzled as when I talk about SMS.

I saw a video on YouTube a while back by a popular vocal Raspberry Pi enthusiast asking "when did Raspberry Pi become the villain?" I thought it would be juicy but it just turned out to be a price/performance comparison with the n100.

I just want to tell him that the "villain" isn't the "underdog." Villains don't run slowly, they do bad things. Like hiring cops or removing their TRS jack.

But pointing that kinda thing out never ends well.

And I still bought it (price/form factor/PCIe slot). 😔
