Iranian President Raisi feared dead as helicopter wreckage found ( www.yahoo.com )

(Reuters) -Hopes are fading that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister have survived a helicopter crash in mountainous terrain and icy weather, an Iranian official said on Monday after search teams located the wreckage. "President Raisi's helicopter was completely burned in the crash ... unfortunately, all...

My wife teaches Kindergarten where the maximum allowed per classroom in her district is 24. She ended up teaching the federal limit of 31 this year and got her pink slip just a few weeks ago.

Granted, she has been there for 9 years and just got another position at another school teaching a higher grade, but poor teachers; always getting shafted everywhere.

Vaquero and Charro are the original terms used, but are Spanish in origin and were discarded after the Mexican American war in favor of a more US identity: Cowboy and Cowgirl, a literal translation of the word Vaquero and Vaquera that ended up being adopted.

And yes, there were real Cowgirls just as much as there were black cowboys.

My Grandmother was born there, she called "Misery" for a reason and no, it wasn't because of the weather.

The NATO treaty’s key provision is Article 5, which began: “The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all…” While this commitment to collective defense lay at the heart of NATO, it was left to the judgment of each member state to decide how exactly it would contribute.

So, yes, it does apply to all members. Those who agree it to be an attack are fully within the rights of the article to abide. It is also agreeable that those who do not agree it to be an attack on said ally not act. It's entirely subjective that way.

HINT: Hungary, Slovakia and Turkey most definitely would not.

edit:

"Allies can provide any form of assistance they deem necessary to respond to a situation. "

It's subjective.

University Professor with now "prior" students affected by today's raid. The University is neither partisan to foreign events nor a place to take a building hostage for such. It just boggles my mind how anyone, including my prior students could both assume nothing would happen to them and to fall victim to feed such hatred. Hatred is not the answer, it's a proven fact.

Meanwhile in SW Minnesota, my family is using leased solar panels from the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (mpuc) as part of their crop rotations.

One year, a field gets solar panels, then next year they are moved to an adjacent field and crops replanted where the previous panels sat. They also do soil prep on the field with the panels so it'll be nutrient rich when they're moved again.

It's not rocket science to either rotate them or to plant under them, this story is idiotic.

This is just another form of delay tactics by the defense, nothing more.

The longer they drag out jury selection, the longer the trial runs, which gives them more time for everything from prepping the defense to giving the ranting monkey more time for his campaign.

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Let’s see, first there was complaints on Truth Social about not being able to dismiss an unlimited number of jurors without reason for dismissal:

www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/…/ar-BB1lNmzY

Then just hours ago the DA asked the Judge to hold him in contempt for poor remarks regarding potential jurors:

www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/…/ar-AA1nffCs

Then there’s the mountains of previous trial evidence showing the same acts of slowing down the judicial process, which simply eludes anyone to the same conclusion I gave: It’s a delay tactic.

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

“I thought STRIKES were supposed to be ‘unlimited’ when we were picking our jury?” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

State law, a law that’s been around for over a hundred years, limits it to 10 strikes.

That’s what he gets for thinking again.

In my 20 years of working in the office and an additional 4 working 100% WFH, I’ll throw my worthless internet opinion out there as to why: It comes down to the culture of the company.

Some companies see a real benefit from water tank conversations, face-to-face meetings, and the ability for managers to ask someone in person on a moment’s notice to do things. There is also a lack of trust in the employees being able to perform correctly without physical oversight in many companies. Granted and aside from the trust issue, there is some truth to that, but can in fact be realigned with the exact same benefit by retooling communications. It’s up to each company however to formulate the best course of action to remedy that and many sadly fail, resulting in RTO mandates.

Unless you are a native Hawaiian, you can only lease the land for 100 years. Further, the cost of living in HI is way way higher than SoCal because everything has to be imported.

Source: ex-Navy who lived there and used to crash open houses in diamond head for snacks when he was poor.

comador ,

Had to go back and look it up. The answer is it just depends. Some land is owned by the State of HI, in which non natives can own it where other land is owned by the Natives through the Monarchy of HI and can only be leased:

Actually he’s not, he is using a loophole whereby the owners sign an official lease with him for him to reside there.

The other tenant(s) do not have a lease and therefore are not within the legal right to complain.

edit: He also doesn’t do it directly for profit, thus bypassing other laws. His site explains it in a youtube video here: squatterhunters.com/about/

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

The website doesn’t really explain anything though

The video does, but here’s one that may explain it better:

the-sun.com/…/squatter-hunter-flash-shelton-evict…

Why would the legal world take much longer and many more dollars to achieve what this guy can?

The court system here has a huge backlog, so it can literally take a year in MOST cases to get rid of them (if not longer like during Covid). An owner basically has to first call the cops who verify they are not a paying tenant, then weeks later file a petition with the city to have them removed within 90 days, then after 90 days, if they do not vacate, submit a court action to go to court. If they’re a no show on the court date several months later, they will finally get forcibly removed a few weeks after the court date. All this because they, squatters have rights:

sapling.com/…/legally-rid-squatters-california

Why wouldn’t everyone just sign a lease to their friend?

If you have friends willing to take the risk of getting injured or hurt in the process, sure, but I don’t know anyone who would do that personally.

If the landlord is aware of the squatters and then enters into a lease intended to deprive them of possession, how is that not just an end run around the law?

As stated before, it’s a loophole to the squatters rights linked above. Here is SoCal you either wait your turn for your day in court whilst they trash the place OR you do something like this. The law just hasn’t caught up and thus why Squatter Hunter is lobbying for change.

They should have a literal rating for Level 1, 2 or 3 charging when you buy it. MOST of these only handle level 2 charging at 80A. I highly doubt there’s many if any that can do Level 3 and not cause magic smoke to appear, but I could be wrong as I haven’t looked at them since I bought a SyncWire adapter for Level2 charging at Tesla stations.
