Slack is now using all content, including DMs, to train LLMs ( mastodon.sdf.org )

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/15741608...

We offer customers a choice around these practices. If you want to exclude your Customer Data from helping to train Slack global models, you can opt out. If you opt out, Customer Data on your workspace will only be used to improve the experience on your own workspace and you will still enjoy all of the benefits of our globally trained Al/ML models without contributing to the underlying models.

Amazon's Hidden Chatbot Recommends Nazi Books and Lies About Amazon Working Conditions ( www.404media.co )

An Amazon chatbot that’s supposed to surface useful information from customer reviews of specific products will also recommend a variety of racist books, lie about working conditions at Amazon, and write a cover letter for a job application with entirely made up work experience when asked, 404 Media has found.

lawnchair is still being developed but no builds are being pushed. I’m using someone’s fork they made specifically to build their own releases: (use at your own discretion) https://github.com/Goooler/LawnchairRelease/

PWAs on Android?

Is there a way to install web apps on mobile using Firefox? I’m not looking for shortcuts that open in new browser tabs. I would like to run some sites as installed, full-screen apps. The excellent PWA addon works great for desktop, but I imagine it would not be possible to duplicate this on mobile based on how the addon runs....

websites that properly support it will show as “Install” instead

AirDrop cracked by China, revealing phone number & email ( 9to5mac.com )

The Beijing institute developed the technique to crack an iPhone’s encrypted device log to identify the numbers and emails of senders who share AirDrop content, the city’s judicial bureau said in an online post. Police have identified multiple suspects via that method, the agency said, without disclosing if anyone was...

only reason that I can see why they’re saying they’ve done this has to be some kind of scare tactic

would be a bit stupid to reveal this hand otherwise

Firefox for Android context menu editing ( lemmy.world )

Recently Amazon, I suppose their app, added a search item to my context menu, which is quite a nuisance. Other apps have as well, such as DeepL and Wikipedia, but I believe those have a valid use case without too much of a commercial interest. Is there a way to remove items from the context menu without removing the related app?
