For now it looks like you might be able to tack something into the search query to get the web results which means you could use browser plugins to bypass it.

My guess is that Google is watching for that and will axe this feature if they see "too many" people bypassing their LLM bullshit.

VMware Fusion, Workstation now free for home use, subscription-only for businesses

Free for personal use, but businesses will have to fork over $120 per year.

If you need it, get it now. Hock Tan does not give anything away for free easily.

This is likely a move to placate EU regulators. I expect the free offering to quietly go away once they're turned their attention elsewhere.

This is funny. OpenAI, who scraped the entire internet to build its product, is now enforcing copyright via notices. They still don’t give credit for stealing content from everyone, yet now acting like holier-than-thou https://www.reddit.com/r/ChatGPT/comments/1cnvyzp/

    @arstechnica Musk unmasked himself as being an unhinged fascist, got called out, and is taking it out on the people who actually did the work needed to build up his companies. Which is predictable for any fascist in a position of power.

    It will likely just accelerate their plans to make all their gaming IP into a "cloud only" (running on their computers, not yours) streaming service where you own nothing but pay as if you do. Daddy Satya wants to rent seek as much as possible.

    The XBox hardware is a cost burden to them and they only keep it around to not "lose face" against Sony at this point.

    @arstechnica TL;DR:

    • GenZ is not on board with business as usual neoliberalism and posts as such on social media.
    • Since TikTok is their most popular platform , they are going after it directly.
    • So to punish GenZ, they are enacting CCP style speech-squashing under the guise of protecting us from the CCP.

    The US Government is slowly pissing away what remains of its moral authority when it prioritizes destroying free speech over making sure the population is housed and fed.
