Just like everyone else, at one point I used WinAMP, then when they started the upgrade to new and significantly more hardware demanding version I switched to Aimp, which to this day I use as mobile application. Am no longer on Windows, but I still miss those applications. VLC simply doesn't fit that role of a music player.

Open sourcing WinAMP means we'll probably get a ported version for Linux, which I am very much looking forward to.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

I used both and things felt off. WinAMP of old was no nonsense player. Once version 3.x came it wasn't as popular and it was much more of a polished product but came with bunch of features that weren't needed in my opinion.

Could have come up with a better name. This one is almost horror like.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Also worst design for crossroad EVER.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Even this intersection is not a good design if you ask me as it still forces you to cut who knows how many lanes, but at least it's a bit safer. Best would be overpass, but that's more expensive.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

When I saw this sketch I immediately recollected all those traffic accident compilations from YouTube. Who in the right mind designs a road such that is cuts 8 lanes and thinks it's safe enough.

Indeed.

Hello GPT-4o ( openai.com )

GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”) is a step towards much more natural human-computer interaction—it accepts as input any combination of text, audio, and image and generates any combination of text, audio, and image outputs. It can respond to audio inputs in as little as 232 milliseconds, with an average of 320 milliseconds,...

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

It's still LLM, so it's still breaking input into tokens and generating answers based on their relations.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

You use Chrome for everything including writing code and notes. Different outcome was unexpected really.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

There's no benefit in having RAM sitting idle and empty. Si Linux caches a lot of things.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Intel driver is the key to the problem. They have no memory leak issues as others did. At least not ti such a degree.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Well, one of the biggest polluters is the cement industry, but people won't stop making houses. And we already have environmental alternatives ready and available just costing a bit more.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

I can believe people took up on this offer. As the saying goes drowning man will reach for straws. Issue is they probably oversold reliability and safety.

No. They came up with their own proposal, said they accept it and Israel got to see it at the last moment and of course refused it. So now we have headlines how Israel is attacking Rafah and refused ceasefire proposal which didn't even include release of hostages just bunch of demands from Hamas.

Translated: Dear suckers who keep giving us money for half-finished products. We are sincerely sorry, sorry for getting caught. We thought we could squeeze through with this one, but apparently our PC fans are not as gullible as our console fans.

Statistically speaking it's also men who are majority of victims when it comes to muggings and assaults.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Okay, all electricity goes out, planes start falling, sewage gets clogged, no more coal for heating so that goes away as well, no plumbers and repair men to fix shit. So, I'd assume a chaos.

Grid is constantly adjusted by adding and removing power plants from the system to meet the demand. This process is not always automated because frequency needs to be synced and sometimes that's really hard to do automatically. For solar it shouldn't be a problem, wind, steam and hydro are different beasts. Here's a nice video showing the process of connecting hydroelectric power plant.

Edit: Here's another video on the subject. Worth the watch.

Tesla on their autopilot during night. All the time basically. There were number of motorcycle deaths where Tesla just mowed them down. The reason? They had two tail lights side by side instead one big light. Tesla thought this was a car far away and just ran through people.

Tesla washes their hands of any wrongdoing with terms of use where owner agrees he’s responsible bla bla bla.

Here’s a related video.

Let us once again remember how Musk boldly state that he knows more than anyone alive about manufacturing.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Waiting any minute for Musk to come out and say how Tesla is the most advanced robot manufacturing company still, because he can’t stand not being in the spotlight.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Fairly confident that it will be orders of magnitude better than anything before. And that’s something we can do today.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Good luck with that sentiment. People tried to boycott products made or designed in Israel and then realized it’s near impossible. Edit: Found a list

While true, Git also supports symlinks, so nothing is stopping you from having modules/ directory or something similar and then in link part of it elsewhere in your project.

Iran launches drone attack against Israel as Biden rushes to White House ( www.theguardian.com )

Iran said it launched dozens of drones and ballistic missiles towards Israel on Saturday in a major attack following days of acute tension building up in the region and warnings from the US and elsewhere about a wider conflict erupting....

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

By that logic Iran started this by funding Hamas and meeting with them. Israel responded, now they respond, then Israel will respond.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Pick any place.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Comedy gold right here. You couldn’t be more biased or more wrong if you tried.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

And yet you support Iran bombing Israel.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Which they do allow. Just not UNRWA trucks.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

You can make that argument sure. But you can’t say they aren’t letting any in, which is what was initially said.

@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Demand was 40 hostages, but primarily non-combatant. Then fill the rest with the rest.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

They kept themselves safe. There are bunch of tunnels or they could say here’s a hostage here don’t bomb this place.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

You are really stretching logic here in order to justify your hate towards Israel or approval towards Hamas. Hamas kidnaps 100s of people, Israel wants 40 back and you say they are making unreasonable demands that can’t be followed? What should they say… naah keep em for raping and playing? Consider it a token of good faith?

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe they shouldn’t have kidnapped and killed people in the first place if they didn’t want retribution.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Am never going to try to justify civilian deaths, because there’s no justification. But the fact is if you kick hornets nest you’ll get stung. You can’t expect any country on this planet to ignore such an attack because if they do, they risk allowing such attack to repeat.

MeanEYE ,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

Am not justifying am pointing out it’s an expected outcome. I never said it was warranted or said it was okay.
