Oh god, I hope he told him it was his birthday gift from the AG.

Huckledebuck ,

That looks like the same guy that the other commenter said is the Marshall. Is that true?

NBC News: After X post about Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, Missouri AG demands documents from Kansas City mayor ( www.nbcnews.com )

The one time Jesus got angry. Go figure...

Edit: on record. I guess he could've had some pretty terrible 2s, or something, that we don't know about.

The Associated Press: Arkansas Supreme Court upholds 2021 voting restrictions that state judge found unconstitutional ( apnews.com )

The measures upheld include a change to the state’s voter ID law that removes the option for someone to sign an affidavit affirming their identity if they don’t present a photo identification at the polls....

Huckledebuck OP ,

Sorry man, but the entire thing is a summary of her administration and i didn't know how to pare that down.

Huckledebuck OP ,

I wouldn't necessarily call her a minor character. I put her in the league with desantis and abbott. She just seems to fly under the national radar and i thought this article does a great job of calling her out and

Huckledebuck OP ,

Yes, thank you! I'm doing what i can to spread the word about what's happening here. Florida and Texas get all of the press. Arkansas is falling into the same pit.

Huckledebuck ,

Now, I kinda want to see an oceans 11 type movie with adam driver as David Copperfield and willem defoe as epstein.

Huckledebuck OP ,

President Joe Biden, in a video posted Thursday on X, touted the proposal as "an important move toward reversing longstanding inequities."

Devout Christian Mike Johnson shows up to hush money trial to defend a guy accused of cheating on his wife with a porn star ( www.vanityfair.com )

House Speaker Mike Johnson describes himself as a Christian before anything else. He has said his “faith informs everything I do.” He has told people curious about his views to “pick up a Bible.” His wife reportedly runs a counseling service whose operating agreement, which he himself notarized, states, “We...

Huckledebuck ,

Yay, new word!

My reaction was that i wasn't reading it right. Thanks to both of you!

Huckledebuck ,

I was told they only needed a heatbeat. Brains are just goo.

Huckledebuck ,

So Trump can be controlled with reverse psychology, like a 2 year old. Definitely possible.

Huckledebuck OP ,

Yeah, this seems like the obvious outcome, but states are still pushing for it. It feels more like the final death blow.

Huckledebuck ,

This is why they feel they've already won. They can say shit it court like the president has the authority to kill political opponents. It's a hail mary for them, but it doesn't matter at this point. The highest court in the US is now listening and thinking about that question.

Huckledebuck ,

No one knows how someone will react to trauma. That's why it doesn't teach anything. Few people can come out of that and be, "Oh, I get it now!"

[Request] If you don't live in a swing region/state, better to vote third party than waste your vote on an almost certain outcome. Yeah?

Is this logic flawed? Obviously in swing races, vote how it’s needed, but if it’s probably going to be a landslide, why not vote for a third party? Some regions even allow for multiple party representation if enough people show interest, so it could be doing future good (if you think more parties is better representation)

Huckledebuck ,

I think one argument against would be that there is a movement to change how the presidential election is decided. Your right, the electoral College doesn’t care who you vote for in an uncontested state. But if we can keep showing that it doesn’t represent the popular vote, then maybe something will change.

Huckledebuck ,

Maybe it’s time for y’all-qeada to show its true colors.

Spoiler alert: it’s yellow

The Guardian US: Trump cancels North Carolina rally due to storm in first public address since New York trial ( www.theguardian.com )

Trump follows with postings about how the beautiful mother nature whom he’s always respected has joined the witch trial by continuing to keep him from speaking. But at least he could catch up on some rest.

POLITICO: Trump spent the day listening to strangers insult him. And he couldn't say a single thing back. ( www.politico.com )

And through it all, Trump has been required to remain seated, not gesturing, not talking and not using his phone. He has not even been allowed to adjust the temperature a few degrees in a courtroom he described as “freezing.”

If you're selected for jury duty (US), should you give up your anonymous social media accounts?

I have old Facebook and Twitter accounts, maybe some others. I’m old so there’s a MySpace account out there. But I’ve mostly been using reddit the last decade or so, and have migrated to Lemmy. Now, Lemmy is the only social media i use. Recent news got me thinking about this question.

Huckledebuck OP ,

I just want to add, that this is completely hypothetical. I was just fantasizing about slipping onto Trump’s jury.

Huckledebuck OP ,

But, would it be worth it?

Huckledebuck OP ,

Thanks for the participation everyone!

My conclusion is that the question is moot. You most likely won’t be asked to give up your entire social media activity. But you can be asked about the content if it’s relevant to the case.

Perjury is serious beyond the penalties, and i solemnly swear that i had no intentions of doing so.

Huckledebuck OP ,

Yep, plus what the other commenter brought up. It’s middle school. These kids are thinking they can get out of class to make fun of other kids and maybe get on the news doing it. They’re parents created this out of nothing to do just what you’re saying.

Huckledebuck OP ,

Damn, I’m really sorry to hear that.

Huckledebuck OP ,

It sounds like she’s lucky to have you. We can all learn from trauma as long as you have the right people around you.

Reuters: US Supreme Court leans toward Jan. 6 rioter in obstruction case, with Trump implications ( www.reuters.com )

The justices heard arguments in Joseph Fischer’s appeal of a lower court’s ruling rejecting his attempt to escape a federal charge of corruptly obstructing an official proceeding - the congressional certification of President Joe Biden’s victory over Trump that the rioters sought to prevent on Jan. 6, 2021.

Axios: Biden told Netanyahu U.S. won't support an Israeli counterattack on Iran ( www.axios.com )

“I told Prime Minister Netanyahu that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks — sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel,” Biden said.

Did they mistake a frying pan for a bullseye target???

Huckledebuck OP , (edited )

I don’t know. I was trying to point the blame beyond the obvious. I didn’t really mean that they mistook the emblem.

I’m sure their preperations included making sure everyone was aware how they were leaving. Israel just doesn’t care.

Edit: I realize now the extra question marks don’t read as the sarcasm i had meant.

Axios: Little Rock teacher sues Sarah Huckabee Sanders over "indoctrination" ban ( www.axios.com )

What’s inside: The section of the LEARNS Act in question bans critical race theory. It defines “prohibited indoctrination” as communication by a public school employee, representative or guest speaker that compels a person to adopt, affirm or profess an idea that people are inferior or superior based on protected classes...

Huckledebuck OP ,

“In the state of Arkansas, we will not indoctrinate our kids and teach them to hate America or each other. It’s sad the radical left continues to lie and play political games with our kids’ futures,” Sanders said in response to the lawsuit, according to the Advocate.
