me: tries to pay power bill, 3 cards that all normally work fine declined
me, emailing the payment processor: hey we're trying to pay our bill and 3 cards that normally work fine were all declined, are you guys having a glitch
payment processor: your bank declined the payment contact them
me, trying again two days later: payment goes through fine
i am so tired of this particular type of chucklefuckery
@eniko there’s one payment processor in the USA that declines every card every time if I put in my 9 digit postal code. If I just use 5 digits it works. FFS if you can’t handle 9 digits just truncate the input. Or at least say 5 digit code only
@eniko I once spent 20 minutes on the phone to my bank manually yay/naying a whole bunch of pre-approved payees because I hit some kind of limit on the number of them you're allowed (for subs etc), turns out they just never delete them even after you don't use one for years. Bank support person was very nice and prob thought it was just as stupid as I did
@eniko yeah I dread those calls because I expected the usual train wreck of a call centre merry-go-round with terrible garbled speech but in this case they were lovely, I was stunned
@enikoDid the bank have anything to say on the matter? Or did they say "Dunno, everything looks fine here; have their payment processors tried turning their servers off and on again?"
@AT1ST i couldnt find a support email and i wasnt nearly desperate enough to make a phone call >_>
i did go on their site and saw there was absolutely nothing wrong with my account. plus when making a transaction on that card i have to use a phone app to approve the payment and all of that went just fine, so i was pretty sure it wasnt an issue on their side
especially after the 2nd and 3rd cards from other providers also bounced
@eniko Ah; yeah, especially from multiple providers, I can definitely see it being much easier to just sigh at the payment processor, wait a bit, and try again, because it takes them time to turn their servers off and on again.
@AT1ST didnt help that no matter if i picked greek or english parts of the payment pages were in english and greek. did not fill me with confidence it wasnt an issue on their end
