Dog on the table, wtf!?

Nice painting though.

Very cool. I'd like to see more of these... Multi image old school paintings. The mixed composition seems unique for the time

Oh yah. Check out some of the creatures from his work. They knew what they were doing.

1nk ,

Lot of his work is inspired by his childhood during the war, hence all the soldier helmets used everywhere and ruinous buildings. How his life ended is just so sad.

Nice

Viking_Hippie , to artporn in Wolf in a rocky landscape - Frans Snyders (c.1650)🇧🇪

Looks like he'd have preferred a different landscape..

Fascinating choice of perspective by the painter. So much detail on the ground, but the painting is dominated by a sky that isn't doing anything crazy. But somehow it all works. Time to find more from this artist. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the upload.
Beautiful piece I hadn't seen before.

What is the tool she is holding? A little scythe?

neidu2 ,

Sickle. Pretty much used for the same purpose, but on a much smaller scale.

Source: Grew up on a norwegian farm in the 80's and 90's. We had an ancient one of these hanging on the wall as decoration, presumably used by my ancestors.

I do look for taller portrait pieces where you can have some sense of scale

Definitely hit the brief with this one, it's fantastic!

I would.

I know it’s not, but this looks AI.

tsonfeir ,
@tsonfeir@lemm.ee avatar

Ai was trained on real art.

Diabolo96 ,

Weird and uncanny doesn't mean it was made by AI.

Zachariah ,
@Zachariah@lemmy.world avatar

It’s the specific uncanny I’ve gotten used to seeing with AI.

Diabolo96 ,

I haven't really seen an AI image in while, so I can't say if they all got a bored expressionless face. But I have seen a fair number before, and never felt the instinctive uncanny valley emotion I felt seeing the expressionless faces of the kids.

federalreverse ,

It reminded me of this (pre-AI) music video.

What an absolute baller.

Also, on another note, I really love and appreciate your posts. They have introduced me to a lot of art and artists I wouldn't have otherwise known about.
