Google Search adds “web” filter as it pivots to AI-focused search results

Google Search now has an option to search the "web," which is not the default anymore.

Well, that's an interesting turn of events I didn't expect to see. This is certainly one way to get me to stop using the Google bang on duckduckgo.

Always has... But it's getting better, I think. :Blobhaj:

Hey everyone, out of curiosity, how much do you spend on a , , (or Windows) cloud instance for your side project? Also, please state the provider.

@nixCraft
I usually go with digital ocean for my projects. I don't have very big demands, usually I go with the $7 basic droplet. I switched over to CloudFlare for my static hosting though.

@itsfoss
Please start by dual booting if possible. Linux isn't Windows and if you depend on specific proprietary software, you may find the open source equivalent might not be enough, or there might not even be one at all. But never the less, give it a week or two as your primary OS and give it a serious chance. And please choose a distro that tries to make it easy for new users, like Mint for example. There's no shame in wanting to have things just work.

Well, don't hold back! 🐧

I'll put it this way... I'd sooner write a simple systemd service file than an init script any day of the week. I'm just not that big on bash scripting.

As a developer, what one thing would you never admit to anyone? 🤔

LuckyStoat ,
@LuckyStoat@mastodon.social avatar

@nixCraft
That I rarely do unit tests and usually do integration test or throw things at my functions through the debugger instead. I know I should...

Will you be using the new sudo replacement? 👀

@itsfoss
At some point if it becomes standard, probably. But I'd absolutely want a nicer alias than having to type that, or I'd start using su instead. Well, until they decide to replace that too with susr or something.

How many CPU cores (including threads ) and RAM are in your PERSONAL system? Are you happy with that?

LuckyStoat ,
@LuckyStoat@mastodon.social avatar

@nixCraft
16 threads, 32gb of memory. I suppose I'm happy with it. It runs a little warm under pressure and I still need to stress it out with building the kernel or chromium.
