I used to worry about my work attire a lot, but then got a job where we all wear uniforms and it's honestly great. Makes getting ready in the morning so much easier. I also goty work shirts for free from the company, so I only had to get khakis and better work shoes (the ones I had weren't suitable for the new job). We all wear fun socks, but it's more of a bonding thing when we show each other the wacky designs lmao.
10/10 would recommend uniforms for work. Completely eliminates any drama associated with clothing.
I hated the uniforms at first, but then my mom was talking about all of the dress code drama at her workplace (my previous employer) and I realized that I didn't, and still don't, miss that shit
I stopped using the site in 2014. Used to post regularly but got sick of all the porn. I stopped posting art online for a long time. Then I stopped drawing for a while. Now I'm trying to get back into it. Posted on the artshare community a while back and the feedback was nice.
I have very painful joints and expect to get formally diagnosed with arthritis tomorrow. I love cross stitching, but my god does it make my hands hurt. Olive oil is fine. It's just olives themselves I don't like. Idk if I just don't have access to good olives or what. I've tried so goddamn hard to like them. I've tried so many. I just don't like them. I also live in a poverty-stricken part of the US, which may explain the lack of quality food around.
I'm not a super picky eater, tbh. I've been exploring a lot with food recently, even. I just don't like olives despite trying my best to. Olive oil is fine. But olives themselves are nasty to me.
I know I've never had fresh olives. Nobody has forced me to eat them. My one friend and I argue (in a joke way) about things we have opposite opinions of lmao. We have different opinions on olives
Thank you for the recommendations! I might see if the super fancy grocery store by my work has those olives. If they don't, then I'll try to find a middle eastern grocer. I don't mind taking a minor road trip to find legit olives. I wanna know if I just don't like the ones I've been exposed to.
My mini goldendoodle is a medium sized dog, but she uses her big girl voice when people are nearby. She's not even aggressive or trying to be threatening, she just barks like she's twice the size she is. She picked up the behavior from my parents' anxious great shepherd. I'm trying to get her to stop, but it's been hard.
A huge chunk of my childhood was spent playing in the dirt and mud. I lived in bumfuck nowhere Pennsylvania, so that's all I had to do when the neighbor kids were busy.
I was thinking about how I missed having an indoor thermometer that measures humidity. It's such a small specific thing, one I'd never think of getting unless pushed to it (which I was by one particularly dry winter). But I like having one now....
I dream every night. My dreams are vivid and weird as hell. Idk if it's the result of one of my medications or my epilepsy or what, but my dreams have always been strange. Most of them have some reoccurring elements such as:
Being trapped in an enclosed aquarium of cold, dark water with a hungry orca
Being chased by the Amish while my little sister (who does not know how to drive) drives the car through the woods. She crashes into a tree every time.
Being in the passenger or back seat of my car while it's moving and scrambling to get back to the driver's seat.
Being back in high school, but knowing that I'm not supposed to be there.
Getting a horse (something I've desperately wanted for years. Had them growing up and loved it)
It has always amused me that the tourists to the US that I’ve spoken to are often very excited to see raccoons, and disappointed if they don’t see them before they leave....
Okay, so it isn't animals, but tourists in my parents' town get stoked when they see how big the Monongahela River actually is. They think a nearby creek is the river and we're like, "that's a creek. Drive up the road a bit to see the river."
The same tourists also lose their minds if they see a train filled with coal go by.
Actually being there and staying involved is important. My biodad was a complete POS until last year. My mom was essentially a single mother my whole life because my biodad was never around. He was a really good father for the first two years of my life, then he just kinda stopped giving a shit. I recommend that you don't do that. He used to manipulate tf out of me emotionally and would make so many false promises. His mental health was fucked and he was an alcoholic for a long time.
I cut ties entirely with him and a few years after that, he reached out to my mom to see if we could talk. He had finally gotten his shit together. He's on his meds and doesn't drink like he used to. I don't see the man as a father, however. I see him as a friend. We text almost daily, but he knows that I don't consider him a father-figure and acknowledges it and all of his wrongdoings. He was only 21 years too late, but that's better than never.
He is part of the reason I have a very hard time trusting people. He had let me down countless times in my life and each time just broke me. I just couldn't not get my hopes up at his false promises. He was so good at sounding genuine. Now that he's sober and on his meds, I've learned that his truly genuine tone and words are far different than the ones he used when he was still a drunk.
Anyway, I highly recommend you don't do any of the shit my biodad did. Being hella bitter about your relationship with your father sucks.
I had a series of classes in college with 6 students, including myself. If one of us failed, the rest wouldn't be able to do the next course in the series. It didn't help that the classes were some of the most difficult in our major. Barely made it through all 4 classes lmao
It was honestly incredible. We all had so much time between classes, so we'd just get that classroom unlocked and hang out in there. There was a time all 6 of us decided to just have nap time. Professor walked in to all of us sleeping in makeshift beds. A couple of us even stashed blankets in that room. We really did work together on everything. Like, we'd have communal study guides and just edit it as we saw fit, then go over it as a group before tests. I was considerably shorter than everyone else, so I was the one who got to crawl under desks to plug in Ethernet cables and all that jazz.
I wouldn't dare defile Douglas Adam's memory by not mentioning that you should keep a towel with you at all times, but my second contender is a surprisingly short three-parter:...
I for example, expect him to no longer require nutrition labels to be on packaged and canned foods. We're all just going to have to eat what we can and play it by portion sizes....
I expect to have to go back into the closet again. It is especially painful emotionally because I realized I'm gay only 4 years ago and haven't gotten to experience anything in regards to relationships with other women.

I'm 26 and I don't expect to be able to retire. I just hope I can keep up in my field when I'm old. It's weird thinking of an old person fixing computers, though.
I just started my career in IT, I only have about 3 years of experience in the field. The biggest issue with finding young people, imo, is wanting people with experience. Fresh outta college kids aren't going to have the knowledge and experience most entry level positions are looking for. I got incredibly lucky with my career, but I know people who were brilliant in college (I was not) who are currently working retail because it's so hard to get into entry level positions.
Ah okay. I misunderstood a bit lol. I work at an MSP, so I learned that I don't know jack shit on day one. Every single work day I am met with something new and wacky to fix. The horrors persist, but so do I.
Windows 11 sucks ass, but I really get tired of people saying you are forced to use an account. There are multiple ways to make a local account in 11 when doing initial setup. It just sucks that it makes most people think that they have to use an account
I've been drinking so much coconut water (with pulp) this week. I've been craving it like crazy and realized that it's straight up my drink of choice when the temp is 75F and over.
My biggest thing is people getting hurt on my property. Also, I have boundaries and don't want to be surprised by people just hanging out, especially because I have a super anxious dog.
Like, I get why they're limiting his speeches, but the dude needs to own up to his actions and face the people. Hiding away only makes him look worse. I thought he was doing kinda okay until all this Israel asskissing started. Wish a president would, for once, actually take their citizens seriously. I know world politics is way beyond your average citizen, but a president should also represent the people he governs, ya know? At least make an effort to hear us and our concerns, Joe, c'mon.
