I'm so sick of every single medical-related question people have online constantly getting spammed with 'talk to your doctor!!!!'

The way people online constantly say 'talk to your doctor' like it's a panacea is a lot like how medieval peasants weren't able to read scripture and they just had to trust their clergy's interpretations...

You think Ukrainian Борщ (written stupidly in English as "Borscht") is hard to pronounce, but actually, you all know how to pronounce this щ letter, if you pronounce "question" like "kwesh-chun", this "sh-ch" is exactly as we Ukrainians pronounce the letter "щ". So how could anyone write "Borscht" with "shch" sound? It's Borshch!

To borscht or not to borshch, that is the borstion!

How does the day-to-day work of not wearing shoes in the house?

I have been reading a lot lately about not wearing outside shoes in the house and it interests me even more because I’ve been saving to re-carpet my whole house. It hits me every now and then about how to do things though, like, say I’m cooking all day on Sunday then need to take the trash out. I’m assuming it’s change...

I’m not American in any way, but I am fond of urbanism. Imagine your cities built in a very car-centric way, so to get anywhere any time you always use a car. Your shoes are almost clean all the time. Home, car, groceries, car, home, car, office, car, bar, car, home. A park is miles away, you don’t pass it by when you walk from the office. So I disagree with the barbarism. The concept is just suitable only for a specific urban design.

As @Badeendje said, the ratio is lower than “usual”, and it is not beautiful at all.

@ALERT@sh.itjust.works avatar

yeah. this was loud.

ALERT ,
@ALERT@sh.itjust.works avatar

I mean that this attack was very loud for me. The explosions were loud and scary. Sorry, I don’t know what to explain further :)

@ALERT@sh.itjust.works avatar

I am from Kyiv, Ukraine. I live on the left bank of the Dnipro river, right on the coast, so all the explosions from all over the city are heard here. And many of them are seen. The sound travels further via the water. While the explosions this morning were not too close to me, they were very close to many of my friends. For example, this one was exactly 1 kilometer from my friend’s home t.me/kievreal1/57177

Controller recommendedation?

Looking to buy a new controller, currently have Xbox One but the thing is I don’t really like the sticks on these controllers, the way they push in and out means they don’t glide smoothly, I’ve used the Elite controllers and they don’t have this issue but $200+ is a little steep, so does anyone make a good controller...

Projector suggestions

I’m trying to find a new projector for my home theater. I don’t need high end, but it should be at least 1080p (i.e., 4K isnt necessary). I mention that because of my budget: I’m looking for something around $500, but I might be able to go up to $1000. The other main requirement is that I’m able to turn it on/off via...

VS Code in Home Assistant: any use for this outside of editing yaml files?

I don’t see that there’s any sort of integration for writing code to process information from HA entities like Node Red + Companion. Am I missing something and this is more than just an interface for the config files and maybe a git client for those config files?

ALERT ,
@ALERT@sh.itjust.works avatar

your answer is pyscript.

ALERT ,

I am among the contributors, so yes. The platform itself cannot harm you as it just provides a way to script on Python on Home Assistant.
