I hate it how transit apps will have a mode that lets you say you're about to get on a bus and then tracks your trip but if you're already on the bus and you just want it to estimate when you'll get there this is always awkward or impossible in the UI

@mcc a recurring problem is definitely that people who make transit apps have clearly never used transit :(

@megmac Maybe it was a mistake to have all the mobile OSes in the world be made in a ten mile radius in a part of the south San Francisco bay area where it is impossible to do so much as buy a jug of milk without a car.

@mcc @megmac I wonder if Blackberry OS was better for PT. i've never used one, but that was Canadian wasn't it?

@leon @mcc @megmac it was Canadian - but from Ottawa. I've only spent a short time there but the transit was pretty underwhelming IME.

@dragonfrog @leon @mcc @megmac Waterloo is where the main campus(es) were/is. Ottawa is, or was at the peak, a secondary campus. Mississauga was the other big Canadian office I recall but don't know exactly how big.

EDIT: the original campus is on a corner of the block occupied by the University of Waterloo with additional buildings running along Philip Street. All gone now though.

I believe there's still a campus at the edge of the city.

@leon @mcc @megmac BlackBerry's sales pitch was all about fast communication from any place at any time for the most part. Actually for older generations (e.g. the early Curve and Pearl devices) not every flavor had GPS even.
