Edit: I see now the article is about Australia. And the price is higher, but converting to USD the new price is still less than US $15.49 which I feel is fair. It costs me about $13.50/month in electricity for plex.

How is the standard plan a bad value? It's $15.49 for 1080p no ads. I dropped 4k a while ago because they went stupid on the price, and I will never use ad supported. If they made the ad tier free, I'd still pay the $15.49/month. Standard plan hasn't been hit with the last several price increases, which is why I still think it's a good value, and why I'm still subscribed.

I'm sure with the way things are going Netflix will end up pushing me away eventually, but they haven't yet. Dropping standard would cause me to cancel. I also have the Disney/Hulu bundle for $20 and plex for anything else. I could easily get anything on Netflix on plex.

There is a pretty big gap between ad supported and standard. Wonder if ads actually makes up for the difference or if it's just under priced to push people towards it. But seeing as ads are like cancer to me I don't even consider that tier as existing. So 15.49 1080p 2 screen, or 22.49 I think for 4k 4 screens. I sit far enough away that I don't notice the benefits of 4k and don't need the extra screens so I just judge the value from the content and price. Honestly I'd rather just have everything on plex instead of jumping between services, but some stuff that family watches is hard to find. Sonarr has probably 100+ episodes of reality TV crap that won't download as no seeders.

I unfortunately went with them fairly recently for a video card now that EVGA is no longer making them. I would have picked something else if I'd seen the crap before.

Microsoft has been a fucking blight on gaming. Paid online, and timed exclusives both started there. No resale if we didn't throw a massive fit about it. Buying up studios to kill them. I mean Sony has their share of being fucks as well, but at least they're making good games. Microsoft has barely any decent games the last 2 generations, and hellblade 2 which is looking great was a Sony game that they had to buy and make exclusive.

This is the one studio I'm pissed Microsoft bought. First one started as a Playstation and pc game. Id buy 2 on pc but my GPU recently died and I'm not buying another until the 5070 probably. And my fallback gtx 970 isn't gonna cut it.

Red bull is also the most expensive which is why I barely ever buy it. As someone that blocks every ad I possibly can, red bull is also the only one that has a slogan or catch phrase whatever "gives you wings is" that I know of so I guess marketing pays off.

Google data mines the fuck out of me, even with all my blocking of ads. So yeah I think YouTube without ads is fair trade for all the money they've made off my data. They don't get my money as well as being able to do whatever they want with my data.

If you need to ask, you probably don't know enough to keep yourself anonymous. But it starts with tails, tor and not doing anything stupid like reusing user names that you use on the clear web or signing into something like Facebook. If a nation state has reason to find out who you are, they most likely will. All it takes is one little mistake that you most likely didn't even know was a mistake.

Why not just switch your site redirects? Instead of x.com opening twitter.com make them go to x, and eventually stop the redirects and put a landing page on Twitter with a link to x.com. How do you expect people to stop calling it Twitter when that’s literally the site name even if you type in x.com

All the replies to you so far don’t seem to give a shit about cyber security. As an alternative experience, I’ve had a supervisor that was friends with the IT guy and together they bypassed the content filter. And not for porn or anything, for like games like wordle being blocked. They were both instantly fired when found out. Granted, this company dealt with financial transactions flowing through their network so had additional scrutiny and laws to follow, but this is basic security that any company should follow.

I don’t play, and have never tried this. But from the instructions I’m seeing online, is either microwave method or heat up the oven and then turn it off before putting the glove in.

My bill also shows I use way more electricity than similar houses. My best guess is they have a heat pump or gas heat/water heater. Whereas I have forced air electric.

I recently installed an emporia energy monitor. It’s basically a kill-a-watt meter that you connect to the circuit breakers for full house monitoring. And while I see some areas that I could improve to cut my bill, no where near enough to get to what the power company is saying similar houses are using. Saving up for a heat pump now as I think that’s the best thing I can do to get my bill down. And as a plus I’d have central AC instead of having to use window units in the heat.

I don’t have a problem with immigrants having health care. I do have an issue with working full time, paying almost $500 a month for insurance (spouse and myself) that’s honestly crap.

I was on obamacare when I had to have 2 discs in my neck replaced. Didn’t cost me a cent. That’s what I want for every citizen in this country.

I also got this on my stand alone roku. And it’s forced arbitration. Only way to opt out is by sending a written letter saying you don’t agree. If I can be forced into an agreement with a click of the remote, opting out should be just as easy.

I deleted my Facebook account the first time they said you’d have to link your oculus account to Facebook and were banning new accounts people created to do so. I just converted my oculus to meta and still don’t have a Facebook or Instagram account.

You can use Wireshark to monitor all network traffic. It’s not a simple task though. But if you take the time to set it up and learn how to use it, you can know everything that leaves your computer.

Yeah, you want a switch with port mirroring. That way you can send everything that hits your router to a separate device to monitor.

Same. I platinumed both of the horizon games and thought even being ubisoft it was getting good reviews so I went for it. Absolute bore fest. Pretty world, and traversing it felt good. But none of the actual gameplay was any fun.

I think it’s more that there are a lot of people that would not be OK being in a relationship with someone that is trans. Hopefully this persons wife is open and it doesn’t cause friction in their relationship, but to act like that’s not a possibility is being willfully ignorant.

The initial person you replied to was a bit rude in the way it was portrayed, but I think they still have a valid point. Ideally, this would have been better to discuss before kids, and coming to the decision together after the talk as to whether they want kids. Now, if it doesn’t work out, the kids are affected as well. Maybe that wasn’t possible, or even if it was I can see how difficult that must be to bring up to your significant other. There’s also a bunch I don’t know about op or op’s wife. Maybe op is fairly confident wife will be OK with this, which makes it less of an issue.
